ok. i got a 8.8 rear out of a 93 explorer. the tag says 3G27 i know its a 3:27 gear ratio. but what does the G stand for? pretty sure its not a L/S

thanks

If it was an L/S rearend it would be 3L27.

no... normal code would be 3.27 or 327 or 3 27

i even went googling, there's no record of a g in that code... pics?

Is an 8.8 disc brakes?
Does an 8.8 go on an explorer?

yes 8.8's go on explorers...

smh

YOU go sit in the corner... dumbass

ford put the 3.27 gears in one axle and it was the 8.8 axle code 41, it was open with the cap of 3200. what the g stands for is beyond me

That is the date code not what you think it is. The gear ratio should be closer to the bolt hole. Before that I see "88" and before that I see what appears to be a "27"? Sand the tag off and get a better picture

3- is the month
G- is the year
27- is the day

I hope you know it was a joke. I was pretending this was a ask stupid question thread.

ya but them number dont like like a code its just 27 88

I know it is not a code.....there should be another number and possibly a letter designating that it has a L/S in it. If it is read right to which you can not see in the post off the tag shold be a "3 27 88" or "3L27 88"
