leaking after replacing clutch, what can it be?

I replaced the clutch, pressure plate, slave cylinder, rear main and the pilot bearing after it started getting harder and harder to put into gear while running, started making noise, then failed to go into gear at all while running.

It wasn't a super-fun job to do alone, but I think I did everything properly; I had almost no weird/unexpected issues that make me believe I did something wrong in the re-installation. It drives and shifts fine now.

However, there is fluid dripping onto my garage floor now, which I assumed to be oil from the oil pan, which looks to have been leaking for a long time now. (I wish I didn't have to remove the engine to fix this!!!)

I sprayed everything with simple green, then sprayed with a high pressure fitting on my garden hose, and got everything mostly clean. I let it dry a bit, and then parked it over some cardboard so I could see where it was leaking.

My worst fears appear to have come true; it looks like brake fluid (clearish yellow; clearer than brand new oil, no real smell) dripping from the opening on the bottom of the transmission.

The 2 issues that *may* have something to do with this are

1) When I disconnected the quick release fitting, which is not supposed to leak when disconnected, some fluid spilled out, maybe a shot glass worth, give or take. I hoped it was from the slave, since I was gonna replace it anyway, but I'm not sure.

2) my wife was filling the master while I was bleeding, and put a little too much in there, so when I put the rubber condom looking thing in there, it forced a bit of fluid out of the master cylinder when I put the lid on.

I looked in the master cylinder and it seems to be full still, the condom thing floats in there, and it looks like it will overflow again when I force it down, but it doesn't. I think it's as full as it can get.

This makes me think it's not leaking from this closed system, but I don't know where else it could be coming from.

I suppose it could just be the overflow from the original filling up that leaked out, but it seems to be more than that would explain, and it's actively leaking, without being driven.

I have a couple of photos that show the leaking, and the quantity of fluid after 23 hours of being pressure washed.

Anyone have any ideas that don't involve removing this tranny again?? Please :)

the puddle it's left in 23 hours of sitting, it's about the size of a cantaloupe...

below you can see how far around the opening the fluid is, I don't see any fluid outside of what this photo shows, i.e. it's all within an inch or 2 of the opening.

Can't see the pics. Try photobucket.

If the clutch pedal is stay up and hard, you may be ok and it's just spillage.

Have your wife work the clutch while you look around underneath for leaks. It may be the line, may be coming from the bleeder b/c it isn't tight.

Check it out while the system is under pressure. You may get lucky.
