Kyle M's Ranger Rebuild

That's why our D35's are so much stronger than a Jeeper 35. But we have u-joints to worry about. :annoyed:

i knew the part and pushing and pulling, but the whole getting thicker and blah shit is all new.

if it is only 250 bucks different, i really think you should go with the HP Kyle.

I agree, HP and wheel it 'til all hell breaks loose, then 60's! :headbang:

Well if they warranty my gears I'm gonna put them back in a run em, maybe build the HP on the side. Just not sure if I wanna spend the $$.....I just wanna wheel!

well yea, if they replace them then i totally agree. If they do not on the other hand, that is what i was suggesting.

if they warranty them id say put back in and run them again and instead of building the hp on the side build your 60

I just wanna wheel!

the only reasone i put a 30 back under my truck.

I have a HP44 sittin in the corner anxiously awaiting more part's.
hopefully next week i will be able to drag an explorer sport home and start strippin it and work on settin that up.

Negative, our D35 is "stronger" because it's a front axle and doesn't do all the work a rear axle has to do. A low pinion in the rear axle runs on the drive side of the gears, this is what you want, a low pinion in the front axle runs on the coast side the gears, high pinion fixes this. Custom high pinion rear axles run on the coast side, making them weaker than a low pinion but provide better ground clearance.

if they don't warrenty the gears....build ya a HP 44......:icon_thumby:

then sell ya LP to me cheap......:D:D

I always wondered about the difference between high pinion and low pinion and why it mattered.

You got a deal. I will have about 75 into the HP with gas so you can have my LP for the same...is that cheap enough?

Stripped the front axle of it's gears today and shipped em off for warranty approval. I hope they cover them.

So here is my plan, may change, but as of right now, I am picking up a FW HP D44 tomorrow. I am thinking of just leaving it full width and removing the spacers I have in the front, so I will be about 1" or so wider in the front than I am in the rear.

Only issues right now, I need a new carrier for the HP gears, they don't sell thick cut gears for HP to correct like the LP. ~$65
Need to buy HP 4.88 gears ~$178 for yukons
I need to buy 6 weld in bungs for steering and track bar. ~$44
I need to fab a new track bar mount for the axle and new longer track bar, drag link and tierod....so 10' of DOM ~$60
then maybe one chromo long side shaft ~$130

So a total of about ~$477 then shipping.

SO would it be worth putting the money into the HP or just leave the LP, replace the gears, if not warrantied, ~$220 then just run it and save for my 1 ton rig?

what do ya all think??

FW is for lazy people... Shorten it, it aint like your running a full size truck...

Cool your going for the HP though, good choice...

id have to completly disagree with that because many people go full width and keep it that way to keep your tires from rubbing while turning or just for the stability alone. not to mention that if im out wheeling somewhere and snap a shaft id like to be able to go to any junkyard and get another stock shaft and not have to worry about finding somewere to get it shortened and resplined

+1 for stability!
