Just Plain Stupied

O.K........you guys win....I've decided to raise the rear of the truck 2" above level after about a year of drivin it level.....

:worthless:

I know.....I know....pics tonite!

EDIT: I was gonna say "and move the radiator back a couple inches so the grill will fit again & disconnect the A/T cooler from the radiator so the truck will run cooler".....but we all know what happens when my list has more than 1 mod. at a time on it........

:icon_surprised:

NOTHING !!!!!

Been sliding and moving things around and came across a concern. I think the previous owner may have trimmed the hood and sides a little shorter. DG could you measure how long your hood is in the center at the hinge, and also on the side where the beltline is? Thanks

keep it up dg, ima watching like a spider.

I also cut my hood(s) so the grill would have more rake at the top....

centerline length is 29 & 1/2"

side at latch/felt-line is 37 & 1/4....your hood can be longer....but it cant be shorter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's not a disaster if the hood has been shortened previously....
you install the radiator main support hoop and hood bracket-----
install the rear hood support(bracket)-----
set the hinged hood in place---
trim the rear edges of the hood to fit the firewall shoulder where the rear of the hood rests----
adjust radiator-hoop until hood hinge-brackets bolt to front & rear hood supports---
temporarily bolt grill into place---if grill doesnt fit flush against the front edges of the hood---you CAREFULLY trim front edges of the hood until the grill fits flush...

It takes a few hours to get it to match---use a black marking pen to mark the front of the hood where it needs trimming...

I hope that makes some sense....once you start doing it...

the OEM clutch/fan is removed & flexfan is installed so radiator can be moved toward the engine 2".....

The flipped rear hangers get the difference split from the OEM hanger set-up...I dropped the hangers to the lower bolt holes on the frame--added a brace under the frame-rail for the bottom bolt-holes of the hanger to attach to....

the truck no longer is level....the rear is 2" higher than the front end....

12:55pm......radiator is flushed.....again...passengers rear hanger is did...2 foot high pile of tools/angle iron/receipts/hamburger wrappers/etc is cleaned up....where's my pilloooooooooooww....................

DG bud i got good news in my thread! check it!!!

Edit: how bout that 4X4 stance/chassis is still at oem ride-height with modified body bolted down.

It's easy to see how high with the front fenders installed.....it lowered another inch when I installed the engine/trans.........but it was still 5" above the front and rear tires.....

The pics above is the OEM stance.....

The pic below shows the gradual changes I made to the stance in the last year..... the front and rear fenders sit level with the tires.......

The rear fender arch is now 2" above the rear tire...it is no longer LEVEL with the rear tires....the front fenders will remain level with the front tires for the raked look........

Most people with streetrods drop the front & rear end to tuck the tires in the wheel wells....but I wanted the slightly lowered daily-driver-look & also be able to drive to California or anywhere else with a smooth riding truck....

As a bonus, you can drive to cali in a smooth LOOKING truck as well. :icon_bounceblue:

awwwwwwwww shuckkkkkkks....thanks...now to get out there & install the aftermarket sending unit in the gas tank....the OEM unit shows empty with 1/4 tank of gas left....it's safer in a way/won't run out of gas if I refuel when it says empty......but, with only a 16 gallon tank I'd be stopping at gas stations twice as much....

out to the go-rajjj....will post tonite.......probably...maybe....:icon_bounceblue:

EDIT: I think i'm gonna start using the smilies again....yea...they're goofy...but....so am i....;missingteeth;

Company came over today...sending unit didn't get touched....but i thought about it the whole time they were here...LOL
