Josh40601's Build Thread. (D-ranged)

Josh40601;1078504. Although I did get a free Gerry can from a buddy on base said:
see if you can get some more...been looking for some for a while now. all i can find is the plastic water jugs.

Already on it Jon boy. I told the guy who gave it to me to hold every one he gets. I'll bring them all home with me. Along with plenty of amo cans

Be careful with poly mounts just on the t-case and not anywhere else. They will not flex much at all compared to the stock motor mounts. So the motor is going to want to be twisting up and the t-cases are not going to let it so its going to put a good bit of strain on the tail housing and bell housing on the trans. I would at the very least put a tight chain on the motor.

If you go with the ruff stuff mounts make sure they will fit your block before you buy them. They will not fit a early model 4.0 block. One side is different from later model blocks so one wont fit. Thats why I had to make a set for mine.

Glad you told me. I have the old 4.slo

I have like 6 poly mounts that are just sitting here, so I will most likely make my own based off their kit. I'll chain the ol gal down next week.

After a long day, I have the exhaust hung so it's nOt laying on the crossmembers, CB mounted on the ceiling, air tank plumbed (but is still leaking :annoyed: ), access panel cut out and installed, and some misc. Wiring taken care of. Tomorrow I have a final, then hoping to get the new speedo cable in, and hopefully get this damn leak fixed

Got everything done, so took the truck out yesterday. Man it was hot. Truck did FANTASTIC. I only had to use the winch 1 time, and there were only 2 rigs to try the line. I high-centered and the lack of a front locker put me dead in the water. winched off a buddy's rig and came right up. Also beat the bed up some more. Kept the cab out of everything though. The 37's are rubbing in a few spots.

Now... My take on wheeling with a doubler? Oh... My.... Gawd.... It was amazing. I've had sex that wasn't as good as wheeling with a doubler.

I did let the ol lady take the wheel too. She did some "Speed Crawling", but she was doing fine, just going a little fast.

Oh i know buddy! I am starting to get really excited. 49 days left here in California.

Looking forward to meeting and wheeling with all you guys too!

As far as another wheeler, I have one lined up. Its on the way back from California, and i will have to pick it up and bring it with me. Just waiting to make sure everything is good and i don't have any hiccups and make myself look like a dumb ass again.

Here are the damage shots....

Used the flares as rock sliders, and added some style to the bed.....
