Yeah my stupid friend wants to do a pull of with his Heep Cherokee 4.0 4x4
vs. my Ranger 3.0 4x4. I wanted to ask if there is any chance in hell I could pull him down the road. This kid thinks his POS Jeep is invincible and thinks he can beat everything life throws at him. Well I want to show him up by pulling his ass backwards down my street, but i don't think i can do it. He has a bigger motor and more torque than me. Seems to me like he has the advantage. Is there anything I can do to better my chances of winning (like airing down my tyers, putting weight in the bed, ya know stuff like that.)

I've got a 3.0 2000 Ranger and a 4.0 1994 Cherokee, I think you're right in thinking the Jeep will take you. That inline 4.0 is all torque. Good luck though. :)

it does;nt feel torquey at all though, ive driven in it and i think it has no torque at all, his is a 94 also. Its real beat up if that counts, and he has almost no backpressure because the jackass cut off his exhaust from the midpipe back. And it has 187xxx miles on it with a bad clutch. /There, does any of that even out my chances??

the bad clutch will definitely lessen his chances, along with the chopped exhaust. It also depends alot on weight. but if you want to beat him at something, show him how flimsy a uni-body is. take him rock crawling or somewhere flexy, then open the rear hatch on his jeep.

Him having a manual will give you an edge if you get a better launch. He also has more weight over the ass end probably.
EDIT: Yeah my friends got an XJ, if its flexed and the hatch is open, good luck getting it closed.

Hold your breaks and do it in two wheel drive with some wait in the bed. When he hits the gas just wait a minute for him to break the tires loose. At this point he will have no traction to aid him and you should be able to pull away.

+1, what ever you do, dont lose traction. make him lose traction first.

Once this is over... let's pray that all Jeep owners learn that Ford Ranger owners are smart.

So don't play mind games with us... OR WE'LL KICK YOUR JEEPS ASS!!!

I like thinking out loud... hahaha

I'd put it in 4LOW , but do the same.

I like thinking out loud too and I'm know I'm gonna catch sh&t for this one. I made my Jeep XJ my offroader and kept the Ranger as my daily driver cause I'm scared the Ranger would break too easy but I know the XJ will put up with anything I put her through. :D

It's all good... I am focusing on the guys that think the ONLY thing to drive is a 4wd Jeep all the damn time.

That and those stuck up Chevy guys who need a lobotomy.

Alright you ready...go long...Hut Hut Hike...here comes a big ol' steaming log of fresh stinky sh&t... Oh man, i threw it long and you stepped and slipped in it. Ewww its all over your back and you rolled over in it. Gosh it looks like you dove into pile of manure!:haha: :icon_cheers:

Bent Bolt... the problem with 4 low is that something WILL break. And i think at that point the jeep has a lower ratio and isnt gonna break traction nearly as well. I can pull my buddies XJ in 2 wheel drive, we both have 4.0 and 3.73's with 31 inch tires. He has a mudterrain and i have all terrains. But you go into 4 hi or 4 lo and hes dragging me in circles. Haha waiting for new tires and lower gears, then i will pull him around.
