Infamous mazda the $200 mazda build

Started building 2 link bars out of some thick wall square tubing I had. Welded the end links on. Put the bushings in and built some lower bag brackets to weld onto the bars

Got the 2link bars done and lower bag mounts welded on. Painted black... Ran out of gas and tried to use up a roll of flux wire I had....so welds arent anything to be proud of.....but thats just part of ballin on a budget.....i still need to make the upper bag plates and I am going to modify the stock rear shock mounta and re -use them. Will try to post more progress when I can.

Laid out for the first time......2 link is installed and got pinion angle set. Just thought I would lay it down and take some pictures. Still have to make upper bag brackets and the rear shock mounts

Well decided I would do rear shock mounts then panhard bar. I cut the stock upper and lower mounts off the truck and modified them. I welded the lower mounts to the 2 link bars. Uppers are welded on the top of the notch with a gusset. Shocks are fully compressed when the truck is layed out and still have some play with bags fully extended.20200624_164031.jpg

No giant progress. But I did install a new power steering pump and a head unit.......baby steps.

Also you can see in the pic the a/c compressor had a wire pulled out of the connector with no room to splice it. Another future repair.

Mounted the air tank in the old gas tank location. It looks really close to the driveshaft. But it is just the angle of picture. There is plenty of clearance20200726_115744.jpg

I can see so much progress with this restoration project. I can't wait to see the finished product and how you will work with the exterior of this truck.

Fabricated some front shock mounts and installed shocks.

Finally out of the shop.....suspension is done. Wired, plumbed, running good. Power steering works....about to go for a test drive. Hard to believe it has been over a year sisnce I started on this. But finally running and driving. And no leaks in the air suspension. Still a few minor things to do before I can drive it daily. But I'm not far from it.just brake light switch, finishing the body work on bed and tailgate , windshield wipers need to be replaced and a new coolant temp sensor.

Interior is nothing special. Two gauges, two switches. A power switch for compressor.
