Infamous mazda the $200 mazda build

Also got the bed floor cut out, and bought some 1" square tubing to build a raised floor with tubs and a door in the middle.

Nice write up, more pics of that finished C notch please. Loving the wagon too, nice work.

Just an updated picture on the wagon. Got the frame done. Need to weld a couple more caps on and finish painting. Then redo wagon floor.

I will try to post some updated pics of the Mazda soon. December is a busy month so will get some when time allows.

Four days to finish this wagon before the show. Used the plasma cutter and cut the bottom out. Floor was rusted through in spots. Had an old floor pan for a vehicle I sold so I cut a piece out of it and welded it in the wagon.

Well it's back to working on the mazda. Was gonna do some welding on the bed, but I ran out of argon. And I cant get it filled on the weekend so I thought I will do some interior work. Pulled the headliner out. It is pretty trashed. The front corner was so far gone I had to cut a piece of cardboard to make up for it.

You're using argon for steel? Isn't it for aluminum?

Yes always an argon/ co2 mix for mig welding steel. Now tig welding, especially aluminum or stainless something like that would be pure argon.

Welding some diamonds on the notches for extra support

I have the bed bolted back on the truck. Currently framing the new bed floor. Have the air tank just sitting in there, not sure exactly where I want to mount it.

Well I have the frame of the bed floor finished for the most part. Still need to build hinges and a latch and shorten the neck on the fuel cell. But I think it turned out pretty good. Also I will need to make some wheel tubs for it.
