hybrid front axle Ford8.8/Dana30

I recently considered the same thing. My deciding factor not to was the axles.
I have built 9"/D-30 hybrids. All you have to do is use the d-44 side gears and axles. That doesn't work on an 8.8. Even if you get after market axles made up, when they break, you have to wait for replacements. That wouldn't do for me.

you build the 9"/d30 or you bought it from Currie?
any photo's?
any suggestions for my situation?
you said that you use side gears and axles of a dana 44? they match in the ford 9"?

another question for anyone who knows. Besides RCV Performance, is anyone else making axleshafts by order?

just a first idea...

nice work, a cool idea....but seems to be alot of work for a pretty week axle still.

I did pretty much the same thing you did. Light duty 9" housing, CJ5 from the "c's" out, '73 bronco axles, I had to have the 44 side gears cut down a little at a machine shop. Yeah, currie enterprises builds the same thing for around $900 for the bare housing!!
Curries also makes custom length axle shafts, don't know if they will do a 31 spline though.

cool build sir. it's different, i like it. cant wait to see it in there.

it's crazy, i thought only americans were into stuff like this. haha

no axle seals in that front end?

brembo brakes and ferodo pads from local shop.
i had to drill the discs in 5-4,5 because grand cherokee WJ is 5-5.
evrything seems to fit just fine.
