hybrid front axle Ford8.8/Dana30

Can't believe those shafts held up. Even in snow. That's wild. Very custom everything though. Pretty sweet

I like it, very creative!!!!

You have a 1 of a kind.

hate to say, but explorer 8.8s around here are everywhere. Ive thrown a ton away for scrap.

I think once you get RCV shafts you will be good to go.

hello again to everyone.
thank you all for your kind words.

sorry for my so long time silence but...
anyway, things are going sadly bad here in Greece.
anyway.

some update about my crappy shafts :yahoo:

The whole axle idea seems to work really great.
looks like everything works fine. even and after 4-5 months driving in all kind of terrain, no problem. Believe me, I did not expect that ;missingteeth;
I have to say that I'm a little lucky:D how else you can explain 130km/h on highway and I haven't gone yet to balance my 36" tires:D

The only problem is that I can not find in the local market axle seals in the diameter of my shafts and tubes. That's why I have WHITE valvoline in my gears :icon_twisted::bawling:

My second problem is my axleshafts.
No money, no RCV and keep on breaking u-joints and destroy yokes.

and here are some photos of my latest breakage :icon_hornsup:

I just have a feeling that this yoke will not hold on for a long time.:D

thats all for now.
thanx again guys...

Thing is you want those ujoints to break on you or your going to be after new shafts and from the looks of it, they wont be easy to make twice.

like I said, my plan is to go for RCV.
I'm doing anything I can for now with anything I have easy access with no cost.
I"m also thinking to change my axle left & right ends to upgrade them on dana60!
the problem is that here in Greece I can not find dana60 parts in a junkyard, I can find only the whole axle which takes the cost similar to the RCV's

If you guys have spare dana 60 parts laying around, please send me, hahaha.

By the way, the double piston Grand Cherokee calipers works GREAT!!!!

Pretty old thread, but this is a very interesting build. Very cool, wondering how it's holding up

hello,
with wishes for a nice and healthy 2013,

front axle seems to keep up well enough.
Still no lockers
still no RCV's
but still heaving great times.

just playing and testing.
no lockers, low gears.

What if you found seals that are JUST to small for your axles and machined the axle where the seal glides on it to make it a perfect fit.
