How hard is it to align core support?

FWIW I was able to drill MOST of the welds. There are a lot of them as you can see in the picture below. The ones in the recess where the headlights sit almost have to be cut/ground out unless you cut out the top of the old support with a sawzall.

Speaking of, on the driver's side I had to cut out the top of the old support to get at the spot welds on the brace that comes over from the inner fender/battery tray and is spot welded to the support. I don't know if there's any other good way to get at that one and it has at least 5 spot welds on it. I DID bolt that part up because I don't even know how you would weld it back.

I used weld thru primer, drilled holes where necessary (not many), welded around the holes from where the original spot welds were cut out and used lots of paint when it was all done. Hopefully it'll be alright.

I used one of the cheapo $70 core supports off ebay too and it worked great.

i can see that if it were 1 guy....and doing some wild too nice for a core support paintjob. cant see where mud would be needed.

but i am serious when i say on a stock application....the fenders/grille/headlight buckets-assemblies take longer to remove then the time it takes to replace the core support. its a job measured in minutes up to a few hrs depending on mechanical skill and goals.

i would just wait for the paint to flash and reassemble. its a fawking core support. its hidden

in a body shop mud is used to cover small inconsistencies and that is because some customers are fawking assh**es. as for paint it just usually gets blown in really fast.. bottom line is really how you want it to look.
