I've been dealing with what I'm told is a bad slave cylinder since the day i bought his truck. Also found an estimate bill in the glove box for a clutch replacement from 2005.

Basically its not that big of a deal, but the clutch leaks its flyid out somehow. I don't want to spend a ton of money when i can just pick up a new tranny or clutch fairly easy.

I have to fill my reservoir with fluid before each trip. Takes ol dot 3 brake fluid. Cost about $3/month. Yeah no big deal for the first 2 years, now its a pita. Anyway, i want to build a contraption where i can hook up a bottle of brake fluid to the reservoir and change it once a month.

Any ideas?

Just fix it right. If you don't it will leave you stranded some day soon. That leak is going to turn into a gusher. You have known about it for 2 years. Either save up and pay someone to do it or research it and do it yourself. There isn't much to it.

Given i am not a mechanic, it would cost around $2000- $3000 (on a $1500 truck.) to fix my issue with the tranny. Over 2 years, i have spent less than $100 on fluid. I highly doubt it will break if the leak hasn't progressed in 11 years.....

Please leave the thread to ideas pertaining to a home made fix. I know its broke, i know what i SHOULD do, but thats besides the point.

REplacement clutch and slave should be in the $1000 Max range... for everything. Parts are like $300, it's about a 10 hour job

You're obviously annoyed enough to want to do something, but the only thing you can do that is going to have any impact on this problem is to replace the slave cylinder. If you have the trans apart from the engine, unless there's less than about 100,000 miles on it, you might as well replace the clutch.
