Are you guys in the rest of the country having ammo shortages? I went to a local sporting goods store (Academy) and their ammo stock was darn near gone. I went to a Cabelas and it was the same. They didn't even have boxes of .22's.

.223 gone, 7.62x39 thin, .308 really thin... just about everything else is good.

I heard Brownelles sold 3 years worth of ammo in 72 hours a couple weeks ago.

Scary gun racks are gutted, the only one at the LaVista Cabela's last weekend was the tacticool wannabe Mossberg .22.

That was AR 15 magazines, not ammo.

Here, behind enemy lines, all the common stuff 9mm, .40SW, .45ACP, .223, 7.62x39, .308, 12ga, .22, etc. is gone, even the $2-$5/shot match grade stuff. And everything else is thin. New stock is sold out within minutes of being put on the shelves.

I was real surprised to see things like .375 H&H and .416 Rigby sold out.

Every single gun store within 100 miles of me is sold out of AR-15's and AR lowers.

They changed it on me. Note the title and randam mentions of ammo rather than mags in the article. :annoyed:

Wonder just how accidental it was, it would sure catch more traffic saying ammo rather than mags... and I never saw it back on the homepage corrected to set it straight.

I don't know. It could have said ammo, but when I heard the story it was mags.
Either way it is absolutely insane.

Our Cabela's has a hand written sigh on the wall "We are STILL out of AR-15's" - Their caps, not mine. Going to have to hunt some 9mm's down after work. What happened to the good old hardware stores like Western Auto. You could buy guns and ammo there. That's never going to happen at Lowes or Home Depot.

Where I originally saw it was on MSN and it said ammo at that time. Now somebody has attempted to correct it but still left the title alone and missed a couple references.

And then once they changed to from ammo to mags they never reran the updated article.

Pretty tacky IMO.

I went shooting on Tuesday with a friend and we were barely able to find 9mm and when we did find it, it had nearly doubled in price from a couple weeks ago. The shelves at Wal-Mart were pretty much wiped out, just a couple random boxes of .40 and .45.

No 9mm's in town. Academy said "They sold out in an hour after the truck came." So I'm like - uh, when's the next truck? They say "We don't know." Grrrrr. Get a brand new pistol and can't even shoot the ba$tard. I went online to see what I could find and lots of places that I've never done any business with (not my style) were sold out. I'd suggest buying shares of ammo makers.

Went back to the sporting goods store - again - two other people there looking for 9mm. Still out. At least I have a nice looking Beretta paperweight.

I have a few wars worth so Im good to go, this writings been on the wall for years.

here too. once the panic wears off, you'll be able to get it again.

i'm finding some stuff some places, but not others. went to walmart, they had a bunch of .40 cal, but nothing else. went to dicks, they had a bunch of .38 and .45, but nothing else.

i found one place with 7.62x39, but they wanted $10 frickin dollars a box!!! and they only let you buy 2 boxes. i used to pay $3 or $4 depending on where i went.

everything is gone here in Memphis area to... I'm glad I have reloading stuff.

Starting to get third shipments now, things are sitting a little longer but are still disappearing pretty quick.

Just have to wait 6 months till the panic wears off then we'll see brand new panic bought AR's selling for $400. And everyone thinning out their ammo stock for half of what they paid.:D
