Holy Cripes

Whoot! just scored a couple of boxes of .243's.

Is rifle ammo that picked over too?

I was just up in Omaha, Sheels still has a pretty decent supply of rifle ammo. More roughed up than normal but the most of major calibers still have a decent selection. 7.62x39 is still in stock, .223 is wiped out though.

Pistol... a hurricane went through there. Some .38's, couple .45's... and a whole bunch of empty shelves. Same story for the guns themselves, rifles/shotguns still pretty well stocked aside from the "assault weapons" which are gone... pistols are probably 75% gone. The Glock case was empty, 1911's very picked over... even the Ruger sixguns (which is my favorite section) were pretty much picked over.

Just crazy. :shok:

down here it's just 9mm, .22 and .223 that's hard to come by. the few walmarts i've been to around here have a bunch of 20 gauge shells and maybe some .40 or .45 and that's it. other than .223, most rifle ammo is available somewhere.

Almost nothing. No .22's, no 30-30's, no 9's, no 45 ACP's, no 7.62's. The local sporting goods place lets you have 3 boxes total, not more than 1 each of a single caliber. They get a couple of trucks in each week, but if you're not standing in line - nada. And I've got to be at work at 8:00 when they open.

OK - OK I'll stop my whining.

that's why I'm not buying ammo.... I'm reloading and I buy everything I use when I see it! doesn't matter if I already have 4 pounds of powder; I'll just skip lunch for a few days to get a pound of powder lol

everything will be back to normal after this shit passes and bummers stupid ideas get shot down by the house.

I hope you're right about that. I know this has happened before, but geez - .22's?? Maybe there's a federal squirrel protection program I'm not aware of. Maybe I need to check out the pellet gun ammo. 4.0 - It's hard even finding 9mm brass around here. I know of a couple of guys crying for it.

I can find 9mm brass...just not 45acp brass.

Just went down to our big combanation everything and farm store.
About the same as last month, loads of deer rounds, 30-06, 243 and 270's. Shelves full of shotshells and even good supply of 22's. 7mm mags also there. They did have 12 boxes of 223 so I grabed a couple. Still no 7.62's. They keep the pistol ammo behind the counter for some reason so no idea of that supply.

Crap man - you should buy that stuff up and start an on-line store.

I think pistol rounds have slightly different rules than long gun rounds. They always ask me if it is for a pistol or not when I buy it. The ammo I am buying is usually kinda big rifle ammo (30-06 and 7.62x54r) which makes the question almost humorous.

I don't have a "legal" pistol so I don't know what happens if you say yes. All my pistols eat unassuming .451 lead round balls. :dntknw:

We now have most ammo!

Went to an Accademy yesterday in McAllen, TX. They have restocked with most all rifle ammo. Full shelves. But, no 9mm, 40 or 45. And no bulk or large volume boxed 223.

Say yes, if they question it tell them you are going shooting with your buddy but it BYOBullets.

Don't think it is worth the hassle...
