and he drove to florida to play golf and get a new pickup while he was at it..well he called me today and asked me if i wanted to go to his cabin in boat today, since i was home myself for close to 11 hours of the day (with no ranger) i said sure why not, so he came down and got me, he lives half hour away, he gets here, i get my stuff, and he gets in the passenger seat, i say "uhh...are you ok?" he replies like this "you drive, i dont want to.." i reply like this "what?! are you sure? you live half hour away on a paved (public) road!?" he says "so..." so i wont argue with him and get in the truck, adjust everything, and i talk to the voice activator to start the radio (:yahoo:), and go, speed limits are 90, met about 10-15 cars..no biggy, then i came around a turn and rear ended someone...... NOT.. i made it perfectly while avoiding a dog that almost caused a 3 car pile-up..and i was pretty nervous, but it was cool,

and yes i did ask him if he was sick and twisted..
but he also lets me drive his Caterpillar 950 loader and his International tandem dump truck with a 366, lol, in his own pit. yes, his own pit..

that is all..

I thought we were going to have a new truck tragedy thread here with the rear ending. That's a cruel joke, I got excited..

ahha, i just had to throw it in, lol

Nissan, nice to drive, nightmare to work on, everything is done the difficult way. I think at one time or another everyone has been handed the keys to a vehicle and then get a dumbfounded look on their face because of it. Mine was when my (ex) boss came up to me and handed me a set of keys and work order and said "brake inspection, its parked out back". I go out back, and theres the technicians cars and a shiny red Dodge Viper. Or the time when I got the Corvettes, or the Porsche's, or the ex drift Nissan skyline with a full time Nitrous setup and twin turbo (it was shipped over to Calgary for a turniment and the driver blew up the rear end, and instead of repairing it, they sold it (cheaper as of availability of parts and repair costs), the 64' Mustang, the 73 Wildcat, and I could go on. At least I have a perk about my job :D

Jim wants to know: Why do you refer to yourself in a 3rd party sense in your titles (hmm boggin got to drive today)?

Your to young to be driving. It may seem cool, but if you get caught or something happens, it could prolong how long you have to wait until you could get a license. Your Grandpa could probably get in trouble as well for letting you drive.

My 10-year old has been driving, but I only let him drive in the field behind my house with me in the truck with him.

See, this is what I was talking about before. Boggin comes on here all the time thinking he is older than he is. Even if somehow, some way you are well versed at driving (NONE of us can be at 13, with no real over the road experience) and you can handle the car, what if someone else hit your car, with some unlisenced, uninsured, untrained 13 year old child driving? Its insane! Too much can happen out there, and if anything did happen your grandfather would have been totally liable, could have been sued into the stone age. And as was previously said, you would end up getting your lisence much later than you were supposed to. Now i really hated putting all of my time and money into a truck i had to wait until i got my lisence to drive, imagine having to wait longer. Even if you had a fun time it was not worth it. You made it this time, i hope you are as lucky the next. THINK!

Because then people who don't like boggin know he posted the thread, and that way they don't flame him as much.

this is why i put Boggin in the title, if you just dont like me, you dont have to open the thread
thanks

You guys may hate on boggin but you must remember two things!
1) he's 13.

2) he's a newfie. He lives on a big rock in the north atlantic, far more east than any other north americans. They get more snow than all the rest of us put together (times 10 even!) drink "screech!" and kiss cod. The absolute nicest people come from there and most of them are harder than cold steel.

Ever stop to think maybe he made up the story? And even if it is true, he probably lives in a very rural area where everyone knows each other. I drove at 13yrs old, but mine was different. My father had Diabetes which depressed him so much that he was bound and determine to beat it with will power and would not take care himself, i.e. meds, diet. He started feeling his sugar Lower and knew he could not drive. The road we were on was Bruce B. Downs, way before it was developed (there was nothing but woods on both sides of the road), there was no such thing as a cell phone and gas was $1.21. Well he decides to pull off to the side of the road and tells me to drive, he needs to get home. I nervously get behind the wheel, my nephew was in the back seat, I drove a 1978 Ford LTD that had a 351M with a 4 barrel carb, very big car for a 13 yr old. I drove that car poorly for about 2 miles and started feeling comfortable, I did not understand Diabetes then, and did not understand why my father was "Sleeping". I drove at 55 so I would not get into trouble, then decided what the heck, he is asleep and drove 70. That was the best 32 miles ever, when I got home, I went and told my mother what I had done and dad slept through it. The best day turned into almost the worst, I watched her give him some serious sugar water and peanut butter, he took care of himself after that, but the Diabetes had already started doing its damage.

So I say as long as there is no congested areas, no real dangers like city folk have, I say go for it.

there was a time when bruce b downs was undeveloped?

haha

i drove a few time before i got my license.. always with parents though and on the backroads

All you people freakin out about this.... are you gonna tell me you didn't do anything like this when you were young? (I have) If not, then, are you gonna tell me you didn't even want to? honestly.

Glad you had fun Boggin. Keep learning, make sure to pay attention all the other times when you are NOT driving, so you are keener when you get the opportunities.
