hmm boggin got to drive today

Laugh it up, I could care less. I wouldn't be the one trying to come up with a good excuse if something went wrong. In the states you are looking at pretty good fines/lawsuits for driving without either license or insurance.

Because without a permit/license you have no insurance, you would not be covered by your grandfathers insurance. That is what really irritates me.

For the insurance rates I had to pay when I turned 16 compared to what I pay now at 24, they would probably raise the minimum age rather than lower it (based on average maturity level of new drivers) I know I was one of the few kids in school that graduated still driving my first vehicle.

dude i dont say anything against you, im on your side just as much kodas or anybodys , i know i will have to wait another year which would piss me off like hell and with what i will be insuring to drive and the fine of driving at 13 my insurance around here would be close to 3K for 10 months

I pay $90 every three months.. I'm included in my fathers, so I just give him the money.

Yeah, I was paying almost $700/6mo for my 1990 Plymouth Laser on my own. My Ranger came out to about $35/mo under my parents like you are doing.

Having it on with your parents makes a big difference, the rule at my place was that after the first one was on me though.

my parents say i will be on theres too, untill i have an accident..cause if i had my own, with my rranger lifted and will be lifted even more and a young driver, insurance would be sky high

Same here. I pay the difference that my dad's insurance went up when I was added to his policy, it's a lot cheaper. Plus, if your insurance company offers it, try to get any discounts you can like good student, safe driver etc.

Boggin I can understand your frustration and glad you had a good time and that it all worked out but I wouldn't push it again. I lived in the middle of nowhere and still learned to drive a lawnmower before I was allowed behind the wheel of a vehicle.

Good Grief! What if aliens came down and crashed in the middle of the road right in front of Boggin and he saved them by hooking up his tailpipe to their CO respiration systems and became a World Hero? Would it make any difference that he was only 13 driving?

I'm sure we all hope nothing goes wrong in his adventures, but who knows and who can stop something stupid from happening even though we take all precautions? Overly cautious people are probably the most dangerous on the highways, followed closely by overly cocky idiots who think they are in control (like the morons in 4x4s on icy roads that you see in the ditch after they blow by you going way too fast)...

Glad you enjoyed the driving and I hope your Umpa lives a long time for you to enjoy and learn from...sounds like a really cool guy...

thanks alot dude, and like my dad always says, 90% of the vehicles in the ditch are 4X4's, and its true, also, thanks for my grandpa, hes also the one who gave me my first truck, my maxda machine, twitch..
he is a cool guy, thanks again

I drove forklifts, tractors, trucks, cars, and motorcycles before I was of legal age. I then drove BRAND NEW International semi's with fully loaded trailers for the national guard during training exercises (it is a transportation unit)at the age of 17 and recieved my military CDL not long there after. Dont ever underestimate people because of their age. I wish I was a member of TRS at 13, by now I would know RBVs in and out. Glad you had fun Boggin, just be careful.

thanks,
and yea i was tryin to be on the safe side, like using my seat belt, driving speed limit, my signal light everywhere, my mirrors, etc. etc.

I strted driving stuff when I was about 11 or 12....mainly farm tractors, moved to a 1981 Subaru field car when i was 14.

Didn't drive anything on road (other than farm equipment and my bicycle) till I turned 16. I was just a few weeks shy of being stuck in the NYS graduated Licensing system....happy I didn't have to deal with that shit (wouldn't have been able to have all of my driving privideges till I turned 18).

My advice is to not do it again, till you are legal age. I understand that he is in a rural area. So was I.

That's not being 'the safe side,' that's what you should do every time you drive. If you think what you did is more than what's called for for normal driving, then you should stay away from public roads.

That said, I started driving, legally, when I was 14. I hadn't really driven many things before so II started very gradually on small roads. From the sounds of it, you are much more experienced than I was at that age, but even if you are capable of doing it, it's still a risk. And I know I would be uneasy if I saw someone who was 13 driving near me.

haha yeah i know, but like i said its a small town, so everybody in his town and mine and everybody walking knew that it was me and my grandpa and they knew he lets me drive everything so they didnt mind..it was quite fun and i would enjoy doing it again..also the cops only come around here every 4 or 5 weeks, and they were here like a week ago so...
and yea i know most of you will say "well someday you will get a suprise cause you dont control where the cops go and when then go" so yea

Cops only once every 4 or 5 weeks... Oh man... Sounds like my town about 20-30 years ago.
