Have had my 86 ranger 2.9 for about 5 months now, Ive fixed all but a few problems that I bought it with except for one.
What looks to be the high pressure fuel pump on the drivers side framerail leaks quite a bit when started and ran for a few minutes; enough to almost stall the motor when coolant is cold. I have looked at the pump, and it leaks at the fuel line quick connect, right before it goes into the fuel pump. I dont think the high pressure pump is bad, because I can hear it self prime for 2-3 seconds every time. I would assume there is a rubber O-ring inside of the quick connect, correct? How would I fix this?
Also, food for thought. The reason why i think it's a leaking o-ring, is because when I get to school, 20 miles away, the truck will sit for 5 hours, and their won't be any fuel on the ground, nor will it leak once started..
Sorry for the long post, wanted to give as much info as I could.
Brian.
