So my roomate picked up a 93 2.3 2wd reg cab for 150 bucks that had "tranny problems". Ended up being a tranny coolant line was disconnected so we fixed that and it ran and drive great. Took it out in the woods and did some pretty good beating on it, still ran great. Took it out the next night and no problems.

The next night he thought it ran out of gas so we put a few gallons in it and nothing, realized the pump wasnt turning on so i checked the inertia switch. Still wont fire up, it has spark and runs off gas poured into the intake for a few seconds so it does have spark. we checked for voltage w a test light at the pump and there was no power on the pink wire so we ran a direct 12v wire to it and it will turn on and hum until you disconnect the power. its builds fuel pressure because if you press the schrader valve fuel sprays out fast, dont have a fuel pressure guage so i dont know exactly how much pressure is there, but its there. Still wont run.

checked for voltage at the inertia switch and it had power so i put a jumper between the 2 wires and reconnected the factory wiring to the pump and the pump still wont turn on.

Checked for pulse on the injectors and my test light wasnt pulsing just a solid light, dont know if my light cant react fast enough to the pulse or not.

i thought it might be a bad ecu but if it was there would be no spark right? it will run off gas in the intake, but when you turn the key to run the check engine light never comes on.

checked the 30a fuse in the disto panel under the hood and its good, swapped the ac relay with the eec power relay and still no start. cant remember hearing the relays click on when the keys turned to run but i can check for sure once i get back home.

any ideas to check? he bought it with the intenion of scrapping it but it ran too good to scrap just yet. had a lot of fun with it so far (mud, jumping, sand dunes) so we want to get it going again to see how much more it will take.
