Hello, I have an 85 ranger 2.8 4x4. this weekend i rebuilt the carb, new pads n rotors, new wheel bearings and seals and i cant figure out for the life of me why i have no brakes all of a sudden. I drove the truck in the garage just fine n drove it alot all week n it was braking just fine and now for some reason when the truck is running i have no brake pressure at all but when the truck is off the pedal is solid and holds pressure. I have no leaks n didnt see any puddles of brake fluid on the ground. I bled all four brakes a hand full of times and have no air in the system at all just fluid like it should. Checked the vacuum hoses and they all seem fine to me. I am thoroughly stumped and i could really use some help.
Thank you

Do you have brakes if you disconnect the power booster from getting vacuum and test drive it to make sure you still have brakes? If you do have brakes after that then that may be your problem.

Also did you bleed the brakes correctly as in start by bleeding the brake farthest from the master and working your way too the closet?

With my truck not running my pedal is hard but with my engine running, not as much. From the sound of it you have air in the lines somewhere and the power brakes are allowing you to compress it vs. no power brakes you can't.

most likely you damaged the master cylinder after putting the new pads on. i was a brake tech and have seen it more times than i can count. ive even done it myself, before i knew better. whenever you do brake work, never push the pedal past halfway.the master cylinder develops a ridge, just like an engine, and when you push the piston past that ridge it will cause damage that allows fluid past the piston. i hope this makes sense to you and helps you solve your problem

I apologize for the rushed post n i appreciate the replies. I just went with my gut n figured i messed up the master n booster wen i did the brakes from compressing the calipers so i got the parts and changed em out last night and now she runs n brakes like a dream. N roadrunner i appreciate the tip on the brakes ive been workin on cars n trucks for years n never heard of it happening until it happened to me.
Thank You
