So I have a 1996 Ford Ranger XLT.

Its a 2wd, 5 speed, and is a regular cab long bed.

My question is wtf is the front rotor situation on my truck???

I need to order new front rotors but I'm seeing this rotor and hub assembly thing that I haven't ever had to deal with before and then I'm also seeing a option for just the rotors without the studs attached and all that.

I've looked everywhere for information but I just give up.

On my truck do I have to take the spindle nut off and take the whole hub/rotor thing off the spindle or can I just take the wheel off and hit the rotor with a hammer and replace just the rotor like I've done on all my other cars?

Is is all one piece?

Yes you really are confused have you even looked at the tech Pages here on the site?
http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/front_suspension.shtml
I believe all the Rangers up to 96 had ttb front suspension.
I think your confusion is looking at the newer Rangers that have A-frames and sealed bearings for the front.
This video should get you out of trouble

You have the hub/rotor assembly. The fact that you are in a TIB year is irrelevant, since the 2wd Rangers retained that setup into the IFS years.

The F-150s had a strange half-way kind of thing where the wheel studs can be knocked out of the hub and the rotor replaced by itself, but it still required taking everything apart. The Rangers never had that.

Okay that's all I needed to know regaurding that, thank you.

Is there such thing as performance brakes for the ford ranger?

Drilled, slotted, drilled and slotted?

Is it worth it?

I'm planning on putting 33x12.5's on my ranger so If it helps in the long run I'd rather spend the extra money and do that.

Another monster truck?

Nope just want to lift it and make it beefier looking and I also want to eventually drop a 302 in it and use it as a dune runner.
