All this talk of "frenching" lights brings me back to a few pages ago...

:thefinger:

Although it would look good with those lights frenched in there. Just sayin'.

OH, and get rid of those trim pieces. I mean, I know you want to keep it as stock looking as possible, however it would just flow so much better without. They look tacky IMHO.:dunno:

Back in the day it used to be a fairly popular mod (removing the pinch welds). There were a few cars that had them, mini's for instance. They add a fair bit of stability to the panel and trying to prevent the panels from distorting during the welding process is quite a challenge.

so i guess they're gone.i've got no problem with the welding, was just trying to figure out the style issue.another thing that i've been doing is removing the other seams from the hood.it will have a true 'one piece ' look to it.

Removing the seams makes washing and waxing a lot easier also, if you're into that sort of thing.

oh,you can bet by the time i get done with this thing,i'll be into that sort of thing big time!

lots of sheet metal welding, grinding and hammering today.it was nice out for a little while(between the hail storms)so i dragged the hood outside and ground some of the welds down and took most of the paint off.i also started reshaping the openning for the carbs.

i figure by the time i'm done i'll have about ten grand in labour into just the hood.sure be glad when i can start throwing some primer on it.

i also did a little more work with the lower arms, made some rough mounts for them to go on the frame.

thats too bad you are getting rid of the trim on the fenders. i like the styling of them, but hey, not my car, just my $.02

it's been a tough call.removing them cleans up the look some, but they are a distinctive styling feature.

actually, they are not so much a styling feature as a concession by the stylists to satisfy the engineers.the pinch welds make production that much easier.,the stylists needed to make them look acceptable.

i like the clean seamlessness look keep it up

oh, i will be keeping it up.

tuesday is the two-monthaversary on this project....i really want to have it rolling on it's own by then.better get back to work:icon_welder:

holy crap....had a huge storm blow through today, winds in the 120km/h range and rain so hard there was a waterfall down the basement stairs.power's been out till now,so it kinda interfered with the productivity.

kids didn't get much out of trick-or-treating,either.

on the other hand, the battery from the boat and a headlight from the gt allowed for some reading time in the living room.:icon_thumby:

when it's dark you use what's handy.

I think I'm going to make a lamp for my living room like that...

Haha! You just made me realize that I will never be out of light during a power outage again!

Nice.
