Gt-12

it is looking great Tom! I love the fact you will be frenching all the lights, and shaving the moldings. Are you going to keep the bumpers or shave them too? I think the front looks great without one, but that just MO.

still not 100% on frenching the lights, but it will probably happen.as for the bumpers,i'll either make corner bumps for the front like the rear has,or just get rid of all of them.

Removing them will increase the power to weight ratio. You would be able to hit a slightly higher low earth orbit without them (sarcastic humor).

to the moon,alice.to the moon.

so,i just did something good.i swept the area under the car.

why is this such a big deal?because to do this i first rolled the car off the spot it's been sitting on for the last two months on it's own wheels.

woo-hoo!

you know what this means,eh?

now that it's rolling chassis, the next step is getting it running.and moving it under it's own power.

maybe some burnout marks on the basement floor.

Do a brakestand, get the hosuse smelling like tiresmoke. :headbang:

ok,two months today.

i could do a little retrospective here, but the past isn't where the progress is.anyone wanting to see that knows how to go through the pages.

as stated a few posts back, the next big step is to make it run.i need to build the left side header,as well as complete the right side header.
the brake pedal has to be hung, and lines run to the calipers.
throttle linkages must be made.
i nicked the trans pan with the sawzall while trimming the frame,so that needs to be pulled and welded.this means pulling the engine out of the frame.
basic fuel and electrical systems need to be set up.
a driveshaft needs to be built and installed.

i think this covers the main job list for the next little while.if i've forgotten something,i'll remember it as it comes up.

figured i'd put up some pics of how it sits now....

a removable brace was needed to tie the strut towers together.

more will be added to this lateer, but for now it does the job.

the stock gt6 springs work well,it's sitting about 1'' too high right now,but theres a lot of stuff to add yet.i'll see how it sits when everything is on and adjust from there.

the stock brake pedal, while showing some wear(it's 40 years old, after all)still has the big triumph 't' on it.

with the engine out,i can clean up the inside areas of the frame rails to get out the stubs of the original crossmembers.this is also a good time to start on the left header.

this is the spot where i nicked the trans pan with the sawzall.it's an easy fix with the pan off.

Been watching this thread and always wondered, did a search on the thread and didn't come up with anything, but what ignition are you going to use to drive that thing? :icon_confused: See what appears to be a distributor, but... :)

that's actually an easy one.jaguar uses a very expensive stand alone ignition module that doesn't need an input from the fuel injection computer.

you know what it is?
it's a gm hei module(the one you'll find in every 70s and 80s gm distributer)in an aluminum box.
the distributer has a pickup in it that's wired to the hei module, and a seperate coil.so it works like any carb ignition.

while things are apart,i'm also shaving the oil cap from the left valve cover.
lots of bolts on this thing.

used a holesaw to free it from the cover.holesaws are great.

Had a feeling you'd say that. That's what's driving my 5.0L w/ Duraspark dist and TFI-IV coil LOL Very easy to wire and works good for sure.

ya,when i was researching the ignition a few years ago i found a source that said that was what was in the box.i thought, that can't be all it is.

openned it up,and sure enough-there is nothing else there.just the gm module in a box.

Gotta love that GM 4 pin ignition module. It will work on quite a few different vehicles and is usually cheaper and more readily available than the original part. Pre obd2 of course.
