Hey, My name is Eli, I'm from Maine and just bought a 98 Ranger 4x4 to replace my currently ill-fated 91 explorer in April when the registration runs out.
My explorer has been a great vehicle for the last two years, bought it for 300 bucks in winter 2013 and it has started showing its age finally in the last 6 months or so. I decided between the massive amount of needed body work along with clapped out suspension and leaks that it was time for something else to get me through a few more years. I was going to get another Explorer but this Ranger sort of fell into my lap.
A friend at work heard me talking about getting another vehicle and mentioned he had this ranger for sale, 3.0L with a 5 spd and manual locking hubs with new tires and a ton of miles. 700 bucks later it's sitting in my dooryard looking sad and ready for some work.
For being a high mileage Maine truck, it's in pretty good shape. The little 3.0 runs great and the trans does too, even though I can't drive it worth a crap right now seeing how I'm new to manual transmissions. Basically the truck just needs a bunch of body work (solid but lots of that brown crap) and some serious R&R on the interior.
Anyways thanks for reading and I can't wait to become part of the forum!
