Look on the white tag that's on your driver's side door... there is a section for Axle Code, google that code and that will tell you what gears are in your axle (unless it has been replaced with something else after it left the factory.)

Welcome to the forum

1997 B2500 with a 5-speed Manual trans would use the M5OD-R1 transmission
4cyl and 3.0l V6 used these ratios: 3.72 / 2.20 / 1.50 / 1.00 / 0.79 / Reverse = 3.40

Rear axle ratio had 3 common options, 3.55, 3.73 and 4.10

As said above, look on drivers door build label or on differential tag, codes seen here: https://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/axle_codes.shtml

There was never a 1997 B2500 in the US, they were 1998-2000 over here

There was a 1997 Mazda B2500 built in Thailand and it would have different engine and trans and rear axle

If this is a diesel engine, then for sure none of the above apply

Mazda B-series was built in several countries all with different power trains

Its a diesel engine and i have search on google for 2 hours. I have only find with gas engine and 3.72 / 2.20 / 1.50 / 1.00 / 0.79 / Reverse = 3.40 ratios. Do you know any of the diesel ratios?

Try looking on Australian Ranger/Mazda forums

Your B2500 Diesel was never available in US/Canada so I don't have info on it
Its for sure NOT the M5OD model transmission, they were used on the 1998-2001 B2500 PETROL engine here

typically diesels have a low rpm peak for horsepower/tourque vs a gasoline engine. so I doubt the gearing would be any lower than 3.73’s The easiest way would be to pull off the differential cover and count the teeth on the ring gear and pinion , divide the numbers (I think, been awhile since Ive went this route) and theres the ratio.
Or... have the back end off the ground, mark the tire and drive shaft. 3 -1/2 driveshaft rotations to 1 tire rotation would be a 3.50 ratio, ect. Should be enough of a ballpark to know what it is vs what was offered for your chassis.
