I also have a bridge on the moon I would really like to sell to you.It should be noted that not all camera systems are overly invasive. Flock and some of the others collect and collate data and others like Platesmart only takes a high speed picture of the rear of the vehicle and the only time a notification goes to the police from it is when a plate with a BOLO of some type is on it. It also has a credentialed search feature but the only information in the system is the plate and whatever is visible in the picture of the rear (color, type of vehicle, identifying bumper stickers, etc). Platesmart has no connection to any other databases unlike Flock.
This has been a big debate lately where I live but the township purposely went with Platesmart because they didn’t trust Flock and some of the others. They also have intersection overview cameras but again, it’s just like the security camera you might have on your home, no database connections. What you see is what you get. If it has to be there, I’d rather have these systems over Flock.
