ForOffRoadDriving's 94 Ranger Build

Hey man,I noticed that ya had extended brake lines after ya put the springs on with the leveling kit.I'm trying yo figure up some numbers to see what it'll cost me to do a 3-4 inch rough country lift on my 94,which is pretty much the same as yours except it has the 4.0 in it.The kit I'm looking at is saying that I'll pick up 3 inches all the way around and it includes everything but the shocks and brake lines.Where did you purchase yours at and how much did they run you?Would you think they'd be long enough for the lift I'm looking at?I have found a pair that are made by skyjacker but I don't know if they'll work since there saying they won't work with ABS which my truck has.

I might be jumping in to someone else's thread here, but..

The extended brake lines from skyjacker are for the front wheel brakes, and your '94 does not have front ABS, only rear. You'll definetly need to upgrade to extended lines if you're going for a 4 inch lift man.

Maybe you should open a thread in the suspensions section, that'll give input from more people

the lines i used were from Allstar www.allstarperformance.com, theyre intended more for circle track cars, but they had everything i was after and since we can get their parts through work i got a good deal on them. as far as the ABS goes i think the other guys already covered that, we only have rear wheel ABS so skyjacker is just covering their butts from a lawsuit. the only other important thing to really consider is how long the hoses really need to be to allow the wheel to be turned lock to lock with the wheels at full droop without being too long and possibly getting eaten by the tire. mine are a tad long, but by using 90 degree fittings at the coil buckets i was able to keep the hoses away from the tires and infront of the coils.

i got a package from www.superbrightleds.com on saturday around noon, and i had a christmas party to go to at 3, so i hurried up and took my shower and got dressed for the party and then went out to the truck to install them while i was waiting for terra to get ready. i replaced all of the bulbs in the instrument cluster with the appropriate color LEDs and i also did all of my autometer gauges, the ashtray light, glove box light, dome lights, under hood lights, the hobbs reel lights and the cargo lights. i was only able to get a few pictures after wards, but ill try to take some more tonight and post them up tomorrow.

my steering has felt kind of loose and not as responsive since installing the spacers and im wondering if maybe i should get a drop pitman arm to get my tie rods back in line with the axle beams. its hard to see the angle of the tie rods because of the skid plate, but what do you guys think? ive read that the skyjacker drop pitman arm has a 2" drop but im afraid that might be too far, im not above making my own drop, but if i could buy one that wasnt welded back together i would be more at ease with myself.

It could be your caster after you droped it it might have moved foward a bit.

i had an alignment done after putting in the lift spacers, and i know they said the caster was out and the camber was 2* positive on both sides, but they never told me how much they had to adjust the caster. it drives straight and rides smooth, just seems loose in the steering response dept.

My truck is loose still and it has all brand new steering links, TRE's, ball joints and is in perfect alignment specs after the spacers. I think it's in the box personally.

Do you know how much it cost to make each bumper and would you be willing to make another set ? i want a set like that for my 97 4x4

i would be looking at the steering gear if that wasnt new also? i guess ill just live with it, after all it is a truck not a race car. the bumpers cost me around $500 each in materials, and ive got close to another $450 into labor on each one (15 hrs ea @ $30 an hour).

i may have to build my own haha , what size channel did you use on each ?

Yeah, my box leaks so it is definitely time for a rebuild. I'm just living with mine. On center feel is terrible but it doesn't seem to wander excessively.
