ForOffRoadDriving's 94 Ranger Build

ive thought about adding a single hella 500 to the bottom side of the light bar, for those asshole tailgater situations, but it just hasnt been a priority yet.

I've got one of those:D

Combine harvester trapezoidal output light. It's bright:headbang:

Thats exactly what i was thinking, except maybe a pair of low profile rectangular driving lights mounted on the bottom side of the light bar, one on each side of the 3rd brake light. I did have an asshole behind me last night with only 1 headlamp working and he had it on high beam behind me. The speed limit is 50 so i slowed down to 45 and he got on my ass, so i turned on the back up lights but they didnt phase him. He passed me and honked so i air horned back and then hit him with my hi beams, my roll bar lights, my brush guard lights and my 100w fog lights. I got a good view of all the empty fast food wrappers on his dash board!

Hey man, Just wanted to say I love your truck. I seen this thread before I got my ranger and I wanted to build it out like yours.

Today was the test run for my hi lift winch system and man was i glad i did a test run cause i couldnt even rig everything together without removing the hook from one of the chains. Eventually i got everything put together and was able to prove to myself that this will actually get me unstuck when i do get stuck. After putting everything away i changed my clothes and went to thanksgiving dinner at my grandmas.

They do work, I have used mine 2 times even though I don't have the proper set up, just 2 straps and a few shackles, but it did the trick in some tough spots! Just a lot of work, that is why I got a winch.

Lookin good!

Thanks kyle, Id much rather have a winch on my rig, but only being 2wd it makes me have to think have to think twice about whether or not i should see whats at the end of that 2 track or fire trail. Just because i made it down that last hill doesnt mean ill make it back up. Hopefully this setup will give me a second chance if i get too confident and wind up getting in over my head. Oh by the way kyle, your rig is looking bad ass!

Agreed, you had my vote for TOTM. *shrugs* Better luck next time...

F.O.R.D., tread lightly! :D

the 4 autometer bulbs were installed into my gauges and the 6 pilot bulbs are going to be installed in the dash cluster as soon as the other 2 packages arrive. i think there are 5 or 6 bulbs in the cluster judging by the pictures i took a year ago, so i should have enough to replace the main lights, and then ill just leave the regular bulbs in the warning indicator spots in place.

HERES THE PICS FROM LAST YEAR:

After more research i found that the cluster takes 5 bulbs for the back lighting and the heater controls take 1 bulb for their illumination so with 3 -2 packs of the LEDS i will have just enough to do the job.

so the autometer LEDs kick ass, the pilot ones no so much, but i suspect that is because they are shooting a straight beam and not broadcasting light from the sides like the autometer lights do. ive ordered more green ATM LEDs so we'll see how they look after i swap them out. i also got a set of belltech shackles and a piece of exhaust pipe so ill priobably be lifting the back a tad now since the springs have settled more under the weight of the new bumper and tire carrier. i got a couple of pics of the LED back up lights, theyre not extremely bright but they do the job as far as seeing to back up.

We got some snow last night so i figured id go see how well these all terrains perform in the snow. When i drove to work earlier in the day i absolutely hated the way they were grabbing but i wrote that off as the frozen snow/rain mix that was underneath the powdery snow. On my way home the roads were cleared so i couldnt get a feel for them really. After dinner i went to my friends house and fought the snow all the way on the back roads so once inside the barn we started discussing weight and tire presssure. My friend and his dad run 100lbs 1 foot behind the axle and 30 lbs in their all season tires (theyre both rangers by the way). Im running 400 lbs above the axle and 35lbs in my all terrains, so we decided to take out 1 tube of sand (80lbs) and drop the tires to 30lbs. What a difference! It gets awesome traction and handles predictably when sliding, like im used to. Heres a pic of my back road adventure, the snow was probably 4"-5" deep on average but there was a section where the road was lower than the properties on both sides and the snow had drifted across the road like whoops on a supercross track. I wanted to take a pic but it was really deep and i didnt want to risk getting stuck in. A drift so i hammered down and kept my momentum up while i blasted through them.

Hey man,I noticed that ya had extended brake lines after ya put the springs on with the leveling kit.I'm trying yo figure up some numbers to see what it'll cost me to do a 3-4 inch rough country lift on my 94,which is pretty much the same as yours except it has the 4.0 in it.The kit I'm looking at is saying that I'll pick up 3 inches all the way around and it includes everything but the shocks and brake lines.Where did you purchase yours at and how much did they run you?Would you think they'd be long enough for the lift I'm looking at?I have found a pair that are made by skyjacker but I don't know if they'll work since there saying they won't work with ABS which my truck has.
