ForOffRoadDriving's 94 Ranger Build

Thats the picture i was looking for, i knew i wasnt just imagining a pumpkin cover! I might have a side job to do this sunday so im thinking i might just change out the bushings and set them close by eye and then use my side job $ to pay for an alignment.

I finally took the time to comeback and check in here. This thread never ceases to amaze me. The way you work on your Ranger gives me hope, and I know that when I get some tools I can do something cool with my truck. I saw a picture once of a Gen1 Explorer gone sport trac. That caught my eye, but so does the idea of bolting on a Gen 2 Ranger cab with a custom up bed. Keep us updated on the status of Thumper!

P.S. I'm almost positive that red motorcycle is a Honda, but in case I'm wrong, what is it?

It's a good idea. Find a place that does lifetime alignments, if you can.

You'll go bigger eventually. :icon_twisted:

youre right 84bluebronco2, it is a honda. its an 83 honda cx650 that my dad picked up cheap from his older brother. its got a ticking noise that after many hours of trying to diagnose we still cant figure out, so its likely that we will tear it down this winter and go through it.

so i put it all back together and its not working? i took before pictures and reassembled it accordingly, but it still wont work? i guess ill give it a few days for the paint to dry and then ill try it out again........

Where did you get all the mounts to put stuff on your tubes from? I'm planning on doing that for my truck but can't seem to find them anywhere.

Well i fixed the jack, it was just a matter of flipping the the top climbing pin over. To answer mountainmike's question they are muffler clamps that are slightly larger than the tube so that when i slid the rubber hose over them they fit snuggly. Very affordable and simple to build and theyre also very effective.

ive been trying to take advantage of these last few warm days of november and get everything on my truck ready before the snow comes and makes working on thumper even harder (i dont have enough fire wood gathered up for the wood stove in the garage). i used yesterday to put on my extended brake hoses and change out my coils springs to some Moog HD progressive coil springs. the skyjackers were flexy, but with out a sway bar on the truck they were a little too flexy. The moogs provide a nice stable ride without being too stiff. The next thing i need to do is check the clearance of the bump stop at full stuff and then build a drop bracket or possibly get a longer pair of energy suspension bumpstops.

heres the skyjacker leveling coil (black), next to the Moog HD progressive coil (blue)

with the OE hoses i wasnt able to let the suspension droop all the way without the hose getting too tight. The original 2wd brake hoses are 19" long and the ones i relaced them with are 24" -4 AN stainless steel lines with a female straight at one end and a female 90 at the other coupled to a -4 AN to 3/8" banjo fitting on the caliper side and a -4 AN to 3/16 double flare fitting on the coil bucket side.

my dad also went out to the blind again and brought home another buck! i can already smell the venison jerky!

hmmm....looks like ive got the mccc866 moog springs. i dont know if they make them for a 4" lift, but im sure if you get a number for their tech line they could tell you. (edit) tech line # is 1-800-325-8886. ive been playing with my smart phone alot lately and its been making me "smarter"...... so heres my first youtube video. its a night video showing my LED license plate light and the tune of my exhaust.

theyre bright enough to see what im doing and where im going, but theyre no where near as bright as the big square ones i used to have mounted underneath. ive thought about adding a single hella 500 to the bottom side of the light bar, for those asshole tailgater situations, but it just hasnt been a priority yet.
