Ford TSBs

Ford TSB's are vin specific, if you claim a TSB labor op against a vehicle it doesn't apply to the claim won't get paid. The VIN gets entered in OASIS with symptom codes and it will pull up any that apply to that vehicle. The end of the report states that it's for Ford techs and personnel only and shouldn't be shared. A lot of TSB's are just information- if vehicle A has these symptoms check this, this, and this. Some are repair instructions- if code P0xxx is present replace this. TSB's are not like recalls and if the vehicle hasn't been in a dealer in that long you can get in real trouble without the calibration updates. Please find a better dealer.
I ran an OASIS report on his VIN and gave him a screenshot of the list of TSBs that apply. There’s only one for transmission issues... a 2-3 shift flare.
I dont care if its a god damn N14. Its still ruining it.

Its your truck your free to do as you wish.

Just like im free to voice my opinion on it.

But chopping up one of the most desireable ford pickups ever built isnt the brightest thing.
I’ll be sure to video me crushing the donor truck with a Cat 966 loader for you.

Oh yeah... If you want the 2wd supercab frame, you can have it. (I’m putting the cab on an 06+ 4wd super duty chassis.) I’ll cut it into little 1” squares and mail it to you.

Some assembly required!

Why dont you just slap a front axle and Tcase on the 2wd?

Just curious

No i just dont understand its obvious he wants an 04+ superduty so why not just start there, throw your lil bread haulin motor in it, and sell the 79 to someone whod apperciate it?

The steering box mounts behind the crossmember. I’d have to relocate the box. I’d have to make or modify the crossmember to fit the axle. Spring pockets won’t work with the SD coil springs. I’d need a slight body lift to clear the ZF 5 spd. I’d have to make my own track bar mount. Make may own radius arm mounts or modify the SD ones.
or
Make new body mounts on the already assembled rolling chassis and set the body down.
Which sound easier?

I’m just exaggerating everything to make the situation worse. I like to throw fuel on the fire.

No... I want the ‘79 my grandfather bought new to ride like a new truck. Not a ‘79 that has some new bushings.
It will be an ass-haulin’ engine at over 800 lb-ft of torque... not a bread haul in’ engine.
Now you have something against low rpm torque?!?! Which is it????

Come buy my ‘79.... $12k. It’s rusty, you’ll love it.

Walt that was really informative. Thank you.

Just call around and see who's willing to update calibrations?

I don't see why not unless the truck is modified in a way that makes it emissions non compliant, for example an aftermarket tuner. Some might still reflash it for you but it will wipe out the tuner.

Anyone who likes to make money.

If it is under warranty it can be trickier, if you want warranty to pay for it. If you are willing to pay to have it done it should be easy enough to get it done.

I have worked with a few service managers who didn't want any module updated ever unless specifically directed by Ford. I have worked with others who took a more "when in doubt, update it" approach.

So, I have a snap on solus tool sitting here, as well as forscan. No chance I can do this myself if I can get the files, is there?

Like “if a 2009-2012 Romulan Warbird exhibits signs of coolant in the oil, do such and such test to check headgaskets” kind of stuff

Well, that explains EVERYTHING (including why those Romulan Warbirds were gutless pieces of junk that spent more time in drydock than in battle. They had a 2.9 in 'em!

Little to none.

The Solus does not have the ability to program your PCM.

I do not know if ForScan can load an OE calibration file or not. I don't think that I can even get the files without an IDS.
