You guys have any good ideas for one? Like the Fabtech one? Or one that can be completely removed if I would need the entire bed to be utilized? Can I build one for under $50? I'm kind of a newb to fabrication, so be easy on me.

What I did was, got the stock tire carrier from under the bed, drilled out the steel rivets off of the centering mount w/ eyelet screw and mounted to the floor of my bed via bolts.
Presto bed mounted and very cheep.

You could try the bracket that holds a spare on the tailgate of a Jeep ?

I like bcost882's idea, but could I see pics of that?

I used a U-bolt froma trailer spare tire mount.cost around 10 bucks

I think its better because its parts you have on your truck, takes up little space, easy to do.

I welded hers to the bed, mine is bolted.

Seems pretty simple. Is there a way to lock it?

I dont lock mine, hell I dont even lock my truck at nite.

I think you can run a bicycle lock through the rim, eyelet, mount. If you care to lock it.

no I was too lazy to remove my tire, it looks the same as the red one thats welded just w/ bolts where I drilled out the steel revets.

I used the Kartech brand flat tire mount and I love it. It is not going anywhere even in a accident. The bottom has been reinforced with a good plate welded to it and 4 huge grade 8 bolts and nuts. It does not make a sound when driving either. Very solidly mounted.
