So very recently I had my rear driveshaft rebuilt by a shop (I own a 1988 4x4 5spd ranger, standard cab, short bed).
I'm wondering if anyone on here could be of any assistance to me figuring out if there is a compatible flange out there that would fit in the t-case as well as the flange yoke on the driveshaft? Would just a flat flange from an extended cab t-case work?
Transfer case has the 26 spline yoke currently.
The part number of the flange yoke that they put on is N2-83-388X "1310 SERIES CV-FLANGE YOKE"
Basically the story is they did a good job except for one thing: replaced all the 1210 universals with 1310s, used more common parts for the double cardan joint (I debated testing my luck and having them delete it seeing as I've heard that on those rangers it's unnecessary, but figured for now I'll play it safe).
The only problem is that they mistakenly though that the transfer case has a flat flange, which mine does not. I know that the extended cabs and whatnot did so I expect that was where the confusion came from. However, I would like to keep the new flat flange yoke instead of the old strap design because of two reasons:
A, if I keep the old style then I'm going to be stuck with two separate sizes of u-joints seeing as they can't machine my yoke and that strap design.
B, I know they wear and that strap piece is getting ever harder to find so I would prefer having something I can easily replace in the future. Also the entire new double cardan joint is much more heavy duty than the old so I would like to keep it as is.
