First photos of Maverick

I find it funny that this has gotten way more replies here then it's gotten over at Maverick Chat.

Even money says we'll see more of these than the Rabbit, Baja, and Rampage combined when they were selling.

Love the dual axle smart car! Can just see that pulling a horse trailer with a gooseneck.....

Maybe a pony trailer with a duck neck?

LMAO!!!!!!!!!

Was just thinking there must be some miniature horses or ponies, somewhere......

Contrary to your wants, Times are different. Those Baja's and Rabbit trucks are what ppl are asking for now. (apparently) The need/want for fullsize trucks have shrank, hence the REintroduction of the Ranger. People said the Ranger was too big to be a Ranger and asked for a "courier" type truck. Well, this is it.
We use a "Transit 250" to Do some runs and it handles a lot of weight fairly well. I think it has a 3.5 or 3.7 N/A V6. I don't see why a smaller, truck version of that platform wouldn't be an option. Besides, after dropping all the car models from your line-up, you gotta fill the voids.

If the need/want for a "traditional" fullsize has shrank then why is the F150 still the #1 selling VEHICLE?

.....add awd and a longitudinal mounted engine, and I'd probably spring for it.

Fwd only? Ehhhhhhhhhh

Solid rear axle/RWD and a big V8 you might be onto something....you know....a ranchero

Give me a Maverick RS Turbo with a 6spd, and you can have the new Ranger!

F150 sales so well because it's a better truck than a Chevy and the ONLY ford option available for the last 10 years.

It's a standard 4dr sedan now, it's just missing a trunk lid.

The rear suspension setup says a lot about where it sits on the fleet vehicle/passenger vehicle spectrum. Definitely not marketed at any of us.

What does that make me? Chopped liver? If it's built on the Escape platform, then it's perfect for me. It's a Ford Escape with an open cargo area. In that configuration with AWD, it hits all of my checkmarks. easy to maneuver, comfortable ride, fuel efficient, and the AWD to get through deep snow (and the open cargo area for hauling stuff that I wouldn't want in the back of the Escape).

Yeah cause bajas and rabbit trucks sold like wildfire.

The only appeal i can see this having is to advancedrileyzone as a parts runner.

Like I said in my above post, if it's based on the Escape, it meets all my checkmarks (and there are a LOT of people like me, who want a small truck that's easy to maneuver with a comfortable ride).

And the Ranchero (same type of vehicle) was VERY popular, that's why it was made for so many years.

Its nothing like a ranchero. A ranchero had many "true truck" attributes this thing is lacking.

I cant speak for earlier rancheros, but the 77-79 models had good sized beds, stout frames, rear wheel drive, and either a 302, 351(W or M), or a 400, and could tow 6000lbs (well, atleaat the LTD II wagons it was based off could). This "maverick" thing would get its ass handed to it by a ranchero.

No i get that, but its still a "truck" in a sense....

This maverick is not. Its a cute ute minus the people space. I dont see it selling much.

How many per year sold will it take to be counted as a good seller to you?

I say 50,000 units the first year and 100,000 the next since it's on a shared platform which spreads the cost.
