First photos of Maverick

How many per year sold will it take to be counted as a good seller to you?

I say 50,000 units the first year and 100,000 the next since it's on a shared platform which spreads the cost.
I doubt itll even sell 50k.

Most people buy a truck for two reasons. First reason is they actually use it as god intended...second reason is for the macho, outdoorsy, rugged image it shines out.

This thing does neither one of those.

Well, let's hope they keep the bed on the small side. At least with the Brats and the goofy VW trucks, there was a limit to how much could go in them.....

Can't wait to see one of these at the home-improvement store with a thousand pounds of mulch in the back, and the bumper dragging the ground.... :p Because you know some idiot will do it ('ve seen people do it with SUVs, if they don't have more sense than that, god help them if they buy something with a bed). Even with the older Rangers, you can get WAY more dirt or sand in the bed, than it was designed to haul. Guessing these will maybe support 500 pounds in the back? So of course some idiot will try to put a ton in one of them.

The Transit Connect (which this thing probably shares a bunch of parts with) has a payload over 1500lbs. It's not going to haul a family of 4 obese people and tow their boat at the same time, but some mulch from the store probably isn't as big of a deal as you're making it out to be.

Like I said in my above post, if it's based on the Escape, it meets all my checkmarks (and there are a LOT of people like me, who want a small truck that's easy to maneuver with a comfortable ride).

And the Ranchero (same type of vehicle) was VERY popular, that's why it was made for so many years.

Unfortunately, I agree with you.

I drive rangers because they're small, light, and easy to work on.

If i need a full size, I have an F350 (that I HATE). Otherwise, I daily a small pickup.

New ranger is too big.

I'd be happy with Maverick if it were available 5/6spd, 4wd or awd, can be lifted without too much hastle, inline engines available, not unibody, can tow a utility trailer, and has a bed or similar. Extended cab would be nice, but if I had to choose, single cab over 4 door.

Heavy towing and crawling abilities are unimportant to me; i need a street and trail runner thats a hell of a lot smaller than an f150.

I really, really wanted Maverick to be an answer from ford to what i want. Swing and a miss.

Hopefully gladiator or new dakota comes single or extended cab...

The transit connect replaced the windstar, which inturn replaced the aerostar.

An aerostar would haul 4 fat people, theid luggage, and tow their boat, and came with E4WD to boot.

So....why are we moving backwards?

I've read lots of comments by young, urban people crying for this truck. They aren't contractors and they absolutely hate the brodozer image of full sized trucks.

This is for them

On the other side, Tim Esterdahl of Pickup Truck and SUV Talk states that the Maverick is perfect for the county workers that have to maintain the city garden in the courtyard on main street, or deliver extra chairs to city hall.

Then buy a damn ridgeline. We dont need the truck market getting more watered down then it already is. We'll have a choice between these econo-turds or overpriced 3/4+ trucks at some point. Even on the used market. Its close to that now.

Why would they buy special vehicles for that when those guys could just hop in the superduty when it gets done towing a ditchwitch? See my point. Its useless

I think this is also great for pool service people. The ones that drive all day from house to house cleaning filters and adding chemicals.

The bed will hold enough jugs of chlorine and acid, while it can tow a small trailer if they have to install a new heater.

The second class of people would definitely buy it. They wouldn't know that he doesn't make a great work horse, they just know it's a truck, and that it gets better mpg.

AND if ford markets it right, they will think that AWD is the same thing as 4WD, and they will probably be better for it. It's not like they needed a truck anyway.

If it had a 7.5 or Dana 35 rear axle I'd probably look at one.

Huh you may have a point. I do see a lot of pool service trucks that are old rangers.

The Maverick is easier to park, uses less gas, and has lower cost wear items like tires.
One city worker complained that he had to use a super duty to deliver a box of toilet paper.

Why would you complain? Youre not paying for fuel?

I dont know. The whole damn automotive landscape is going to hell...quickly. i was realli hoping id be dead before it did but i doubt ill be wormchow by 2030 unless im forced to buy a friggin EV then ill just off myself.

Yes, Rusty. Everything you dislike is clearly wrong and means that the entire industry is going to hell.

Or perhaps the world doesn't revolve around you and you shouldn't be so much of a snowflake.
