on my 98 ranger, my dimmer switch hasn't worked right ever since i bought it. At night while driving it the instrument cluster is so bright and it bothers my vision. if i try to dim it just shuts it off completely. sometimes i get lucky and it will work for a few days but it usually never dims right

Ok, so go get a dimmer switch.

wow $90 at autozone

UPDATE: pulled the dash apart yesterday to take a look... one of the wires going to the dimmer switch (I believe was the grey and red) had been fried. Checked all fuses, they were good and all were correct amperage. put electric tape on that wire and now it dims fine. going to watch it a few days. if it breaks again oh well
