While replacing brake lines in my 93 ranger project I noticed a rotted line that goes to the charcoal canister/gas tank.
Will this cause any drivability issues or affect gas mileage significantly? Trying to determine how urgently I should address this?
From what I can see the line is rubber or nylon the whole run except for this 2’ section where it enters the engine compartment, doesn’t look like too bad a job to replace

well... the elbow that connects to the canister itself on my 97 rotted away 15 years ago. since it had a different diameter on each end it was not a cut a length of fuel line and replace it easy, I had to think of getting a plastic elbow with two different sizes, two different sizes of fuel line and putting that in and hey while I am at it maybe I should replace all of that line and the purge valve just before the elbow that does not work and probably hasn't worked for the entire time I have owned the truck but the truck was running fine but had a check engine light on for it and then ADHD kicked in and well look at the time, its 15 years later...

Granted i maybe drive my ranger 3 or 4 thousand miles a year but I had no driveability issues so it faded from my focus...

Great, now another little project to work on...

I hear ya, everytime I fix something I find something else that’s messed up lol

On newer trucks that’s supposed to set an EVAP leak code. Of course, my 00 green Ranger had an EVAP line that looked like Swiss cheese and no code so there’s that…

I replaced the metal line on my green Ranger, my 92 Ranger and my 89 Bronco II so far. The Rangers got an appropriate sized aluminum line and the B2 got a bit of Ni-copp because the factory line was about 1/4” diameter and I had a roll of that on hand but no aluminum that small.
