Escorts 2nd SAS

First thing is first...get her to be 4wd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yes, the trans needs swaped asap to make it 4wd. It sounds like it has a bearing that is bad. But I need to get the driveshaft fixed first.

Arnt you going to have to get a driveshaft made anyways once you add a tcase in after the new transmission?

Driveshaft is fixed. All it needed once i got under and tore into it was a new ujoint. And since i had the driveshaft out i went ahead and put the modified carrier bearing crossmember in. Had to modify it some but this way the driveshaft is completely straight no angle at the bearing. Took for a drive and no vibrations.
When i convert it to 4wd i still have the other front part of the driveshaft from the other truck i will be using... I will post pics of it later when i get home.

Here is the crossmember. Needs some more work, if you look you will see the exhaust pipe sitting on the crossmember. I am going to take that part of the exhaust pipe out and turn it 90* to clear it and at that time will put a new muffler in.

It's driveable for now. Hopefully if nothing else breaks I will be swaping transmissions my next weekend off.

Your longarms arnt rusted at all, my paint didnt last long on mine so Im just going to shoot some underbody spray on mine and call them good plus should protect the brake lines running along them too.

They are rusty in spots, but its because I keep spraying paint on them. Around 4 to 5 coats of rustoleum.

I dont want to make mine shinny but that explains it. But I do want to give credit to Ironman4x4 so hopefully soon will spray paint there website and/or logo on them.

That sounds like a good idea.

Was board earlier today so I got out the angle grinder..

I adjusted the upper arms a few days ago to give it less caster. Its at 6° now instead of 10°. But now i have a problem. Since i moved the axle forward an inch or so the coil spring is hitting the track bar mount when i hit a bump. And also the tube i welded inside the coil is rubbing the inside of the coil also when hitting bumps. I talked to a friend here at work that is a jeep guy and he says to coil pads that sit on the axle. Move the coil to sit on top of the axle instead of in front like it is now. That should fix a lot of problems i am having and make the spring sit more verticle. I will ahve to take the axle out and cut the brackets off the axle and fab some new ones. Or i might just cut the round part of and weld some plate to it. This will take me a few days that i dont have.
I want to get this all done by July 4th week because i want to take a trip to Bundy Hill with a group of friends.

I think the samething is happening to me when I hit bumps, coil rubs something but I may just be maxing out my shocks too....need to get taller towers.

Let me know if you still plan on doing this, I might be interested in going aswell, I have never been there.

Well i sure hope i get everything done that needs done or it wont happen. Time is running out. I am swapping trans monday and tuesday and then next weekend will work on the front axle. Then hopefully have enough money to get a new driveshaft. Talked to the guys at Fort Wayne Clutch and they can make me a 1ton driveshaft for $375. Might go that route if the budget will let me.

Isnt that alot of $ for a driveshaft that will get changed when you get the doubler? Even i theres still a bit of time between now and the doubler
