hello guys im new here and i have a big question for you guys i drive a 2000 ford ranger with a 3.0L and i know some about exhaust but not to much sinc eim only a youngin 17 in feb but iv been aorud cars but ok to my question i want to make my truck sound good what kid doesnt right? i would lov eot hav eit load ot wake up the neghboirs and noit kill me gas milliage wise but ya i would like to run dual exhaust and sound descent and not kill the wallet or the gas milage and power with what power that 3.0L gives out. well thank you guys for reading and will be waiting for your replys and please remember im only 17 and dont have much money and no father to help with the installment. and its hard for a 40 year old man to get a job its harder for us younger kid swho actuly want to work but i do have a shop i can use i have a mechanics class with lift and all the goods. sorry i rambel to much thank you for reading

my first thought was just cut the pipe at the back diffrentel and install a y pipe and then ru duals out that way but that would just be look not much sound diffrence an dhonestly dont know profesnnol words so ordering is kind of diffucult

i also do have this stack laying aorud mabey i could hook her up insted bu ti heard that wouldnt have enough back pressure an di would lose power and mpg and others idk if this is true

thank you and its an auto wish she was a manual but u take what ur givin and dont complain about it. but ya i used to own a camaro and lol miss the sound of it and im sorry for my spelling and typing fast. ya i what a good sound but also looks good like duals. so what would u suggest for me to look towrds to and i know exhuast can get pretty price

thank you very much and i will def take ur opinion in on my shopping so for duals i want the si/do flowmaster 40? and for just the single just flowmaster 40? not to smart with exhaust. hope u dont get to frustrated with all my questions. now all i have to do is find the exhaust then learn to install the correct way
and when i go to a junkyard should i just ask for one becuase i can figure out what single in and dual out is but idk about how to know everything else i just need to learn how to completly do exhaust befor even going so i can remove and stuff

ok thank you very much and i feel like such a berdan but i just dont want to end up going wronge iv looked for how to do this picture and explaintion on how to run exhaust and stuff but no such luck and i kind of uderstand how it is running and am i running this from the ugh i cant remember the correct name its where the exhaust runs from in the begening the engine or from the cat im thinkin it is running from the engine not the cat am i right? iv done some searchin on the internet like i said and no such luke on how to do this all the right way

ps. i think it hit me am i running the stock exhaust to the 40 then that turns them to duals and i run the 2.5s out? then i can use a y pipe? to make one tip go to the driver side and the other strait to the passanger side rears? mabey i have this all wronge

ok i got it im just mounting the 40 about a foot past my cat witch would put me a little infront of the rear wheel i cant remember where the cat is exact and i just use my stock exhaust and ru the single pipe in to the 40 then i run two 2.5in out of the 40 and then im a little confused i want the tips to come out the back on each side u know like u kind of see on the bigger guys trucks but thoese are true duals i think? and what kind of pipe do i buy to use as the 2.5in's and then i want a y pipe right if i want to split them?

ya i thought so i need to figure how much this will all cost me the pipe is what im worried about do u think u could help me create a list of everything i need like the pipeing and all the goods iv got a good idea but the big thing is there is no exhaust shop around here where i live so i cant really run up and ask them for a qoaut on what it will cost me for the bends and pipes n to make the duals go to each side and all the goods

ya i know there is a few in lafeyette thats a big town by where i live ill just look around and my plan was to weld the pipes together but i was gona mout the flowmaster but idk if thats right or not but i figured what i need now mabey u can tell me if im right or wronge

orginal flowmaster 40 si/do
2.25in & 2.5in's out
3in chrome tips
y pipe to make them go to either side
and a little other odds and ends
and does the tip just slip on and tighten with screws or clamp or something or does it need welded as well?

and will this effect my power or my mpg? in negitive ways

yes i want to run a tip to each side of the rear of the truck and i could pick up some dual tips and make it look like i have 4 exhaust but na that might just over do it and ok thats good it wont effect my mpg and mabey a little power not to worried about gainin cant hurt but just worried about losein and im hopeing this wont cost me to much ya all my friends luagh when i say im running duals on my truck they say ranger aint big enough to have duals and it would be pointless ya i just dont want to soud like a rice burner i would love to hear ur truck

well i got a quot on it and its a wopping $400 he said with the pipe and tips and such and i could of mis uderstand him but he said he was just gona run the stock exhaust pipe into the flowmaster and then run the 2.5ins out and bend is that wronge i might just take the in on my machinces class in school and do all the stuff myself with my teachers eyes with the bending

ya i couldent belive it when he said that much. and like the kind of confuses me when u say catback iv done im lookin gin to and uderstand exhaust today shop class got some nice books on it but yes any good souding and looking ideas for dual not gona cost me a arm and leg to ge my hands on. but mtnrgr i like the way he explain but im very open for ideas so if u dont mind could u explain more to me

well i made a plan im off to the junkyard tomarrow to go look for a flowmaster muffler and in the moring tomarrow im going to my shop class to do some messurments on how much pipe im going to need to run the duals im going to use my stock exhaust and run that to the single inside and then run 2.5in pipes out the dual out side and take them over to each side of the truck with 3 in tips for makeing the final touch i just have one problem what kind of pipe should i buy and not going ot cost me an arm and a leg to buy but wont rust out in a year please remember when giving ur opinion i am still youg cant find a job and atm have 100 dollors to my name hopeing the flowmaster cost only like 25-50 from the shopping mall (junkyard) lol thank you guys and girls

ya i was thinkin for the pipe to fit in to the flow is there any pipe reducers i will need or make them bigger or something like that to make them fit? cuz im useing the stock exhaust to run to the single inside for now but i will end up running 2.25in pipe to the inside onc ei get more money to buy all the pipeing i will need but for now im going to run my stock exhaust into the single in and the 2.5in pipes out the dual out side and get them bent like i need them in shop class but im also puzzled on my welding techniqe im going to use mig welding (wire) not ark (electrode welding is there any thing i should know and am i going to weld the pipe in to the flowmaster or clamp or what i just want to make sur eim not going to mess it up where i can change the pipe to the 2.25 for the single in oneday when i can afford it. so mabey you guys could help me on what i shoudl be welding exactly and what needs clamped and when i hang the pipe im going to want to buy mounts right? to run the pipe through or just weld the thing to the frame or something im not to for sure thanks guys all ur help is very much appreciated and i hope to oneday have a guy wanting to aks all the question i have and can help him like u have helped me thank you guys n ill be waiting for ur reply

ps and say i wanted to run the 2.25in to the in sinde how hard owuld it be to remount my cat and stuff and my truck run fine and other things i want to make it be loud but not stupied have that nice rumble i might be able ot pull the rest of the cash for the pipe becuase its on 3.75 a foot from napa lol what all will i need to run the whole new pipes
