For liability reasons for the forum, things that are illegal can not be promoted on the forum. What you chose to do in your personal life is your business.
Also, you might want to consider that the forum owner is a retired police officer. So, comments about licking of boots and so on are probably not in your best interest. It would behoove you to back off.
A few thoughts on this forum, and on manners and respect in general.
Respect. Man is that an overused word these days, and amazingly nobody seems to understand what it means. People want to be respected, they think it is an absolute that they should be respected first, and they stand ready to fight until that happens. They entrench and don’t want to show respect to anybody else unless others bow down to them first. That’s not the way it works. To get respect, you have to give respect, and there should never be a conditional item or a moment before that happens. Respect doesn’t need to be “qualified.” it should be an absolute. We could all slip now and then, but if we’re reminded to be respectful, even if those aren’t the exact words, we should immediately wake up and realize we need to step up our engagement. Engagement, not resistance.
Participation in this forum is voluntary. While this forum is in the public domain, the forum itself is not a public entity. It is a privately owned Ranger support service owned by
@Jim Oaks, with assisting forum moderators, administrators, and leaders. Everybody is welcome, but only on the condition that they are respectful of and to others, and providing they follow the few rules that the forum leadership has established.
Let me also say, the lessons we learn hard we learned well. I can be pretty rowdy, and the forum has clipped back my ears a couple times. It’s a learning curve, I deserved it when they clipped me, and I’m more respectful now. Not that I’m still not a wild man on occasions. I just do my wildness on my own time.
This forum is a gold mine and a godsend of information for people who like to work on their trucks or modify them or have problems keeping them running or who have liability problems, etc., etc. I don’t know if anybody’s noticed, but there’s more than a few lawyers looking for anything to make a buck who don’t care about respect or what’s fair, just what they can get away with and get rich with in court. The forum has to have an iron hand over anything presented in the forum that could be a liability to members in the forum, and therefore liability for the forum. I’ve been on this forum for a few thousand tweets, and I’ve only heard from the forum moderators six or eight times in years. But when they speak up, people should listen, and if they want to continue to participate, frankly, they have to listen. Liability items are not a matter of debate when you’re using a private forum.
Back to the respect thing. There are tens of thousands of people who participate in this forum. My experience is virtually everyone will give you the shirt off their back if you need help with something. There’s little or no hostility, except a little offered in jest. Maintaining that atmosphere doesn’t just happen, especially in today’s day and age. All communication and posts should start from a position of humility and respect, and then be followed by an intelligent interaction, not something people, one person, may feel is offensive, and certainly not confrontational or in conflict with the forum guidelines. I’ve learned everyone on the forum, appreciates a probing joke every now and then, but foul language in general is not tolerated.
Now, if you’re getting your advice on how to live your life from me, you’re in pretty deep trouble anyway. But I’ve learned a couple things in 70 years. This is a good thing. Everybody is welcome to join and participate. And benefit. But if you press an opinion regarding how it’s managed or use methods that are offensive to other forum members, maybe this just isn’t the place for you.
Just my two cents, for what it may matter.
