My credo
Friend of Bill W.
I needed to do something about the twisted rear bumper on the 2002 4WD XLT Supercab I inherited from my Dad. I looked into used bumpers but could never find one for a flare side pickup. I really did not like the $500 price for a new bumper besides the fact that I think they are largely cosmetic and I could see my new bumper twisted like a pretzel as well.

So, I built this one from 6" channel iron and 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" angle iron. I used Ford license plate lamps so my bulb sockets would simply snap into place. I also added red LED lamps at the far left/right sides.

I added the Reese hitch while I was at it.

Looks good! Shouldn't bend now...
Why the angle iron?

Angle iron for the outside steps. Also used to fabricate the mounting brackets.
