Now most people wold say doing a D44 swap with leaves would be faster and easier then coils. What do you think is easier, seeing that it took you almost no time to do yours with coils.

Doing a 44 swap with springs is harder than coils imho. You have to build spring mounts for a frame that was never intended to have leaf springs as well as other lil things. The coil d44 swap is just about a bolt on deal from what ive seen here and else where.

Yup. ive never understood how ppl think leafs are easier. even frok scratch buy coil cucket snd the springs. then u just need the axle setup with radius arms and a panhard all of which you get if u get a good donor

Less fab work if you stay with coils. Use a coil sprung/radius arm equipped Ford full size axle and radius arm mounts.....Fab steering, trac bar and tranny crossmember...the rest is off the shelf factory parts.

DUDE! might be less fab work but it's easier fab work for leafs. you need to build 4 mounts that are easy as pie. no trac-bar to worry about, dont have to worry bout the angle of the coil's. you square up the axle and tac some brackets in place Double and triple check everything and then burn em home.

wither way can be as easy or as difficult as you want to make it that's for sure.

we had the DWB goin rocking the waggy 44 in 1 day. took about another hour to fine tune everything the next day.

To get up and rolling, coils were the way to go. But I will be doing a lot of fine tuning to get everything right.

I got lucky and the only fab work I had was welding the radius arm brackets to the frame. I didn't have the mess with ball joints or any steering measurements.

Now I still need to install front driveshaft, redo and clearance trac bar, mod coil buckets, install limit straps, and replace ujoints. And eventually beef up my spare arms and swap them out.

I love how it allways turns into a leaf vs. coil fight around here :icon_twisted:

Looks good, are you going to do anything to get your steering up a little higher?

Once I get everything the way I want it, get a locker, and possibly some new rubber, then I am going to look into some high steer brackets.

I would love to, but I can't swing a locker right now. Maybe someday.

Anyone seen spindle nuts like these?

No sir!!!! I like that better than the worthless warn "two nuts, pin and washer" set up.

Found them on an F250 with a HD44 TTB.

And some work today. Redid buckets, cleaned some things up, and splashed a little paint.

is there any way you could make the bottom spring bracket more level, or does it really matter ?????
