Differential gear oil change


You're very welcome and we appreciate newcomers, the amount of knowledge here is mind blowing and has been since the beginning. Keep us posted on your project.
 
My 95 F-150 called for 75-90w if I remember right for both axles. Since it’s my hauler and I built it to be able to plow snow, I put I think it was 80-140w in. Front is an open diff and rear has a lunchbox locker so no friction modifier. FYI, some of the new synthetic oils don’t require an additional friction modifier. My green Ranger is getting a limited slip rear and I’m going with a full synthetic that doesn’t require extra friction modifier, says it has it in it

That is my favorite truck body style.
 
I have in the past drained a differential (or manual transmission), refilled with cheap synthetic automatic transmission fluid, driven a few miles and drained again. This was to help clean out that original lube and goop before refilling with synthetic. The synthetics are so much better in my experience.
 
If nothing else, they pour easier than standard gear oil does. And stinks a lot less.
