dhkonrad's 93 ford ranger

I shoulda known painting my bumper... Just got rear ended pulling into my driveway.
F150 tagged me pretty good and smashed up his head lights and fender, I got a scratched bumper and broken back up light. Told the guy it was a $20 light, so he gave me $20 and we called it a day lol

Honestly, I felt bad even taking the 20 bucks. His truck was pretty well messed up, and I could understand how he hit me as it was at the crest of a hill into the sun; he probably didn't see my blinker :-\

How're you liking radius arms? I'm thinkin about doin the same thing but switching it up and making the passenger side wristed.

So far so good. Ive landed on rocks and stuff, and have yet to bend them. No problems on the trail, and don't seem to limit flex too bad. If you want to keep the wedge style, I wouldn't go too much shorter than I have though, since it would start to hamper the flex. Looking back, if I didn't have cast wedges, I would have done a 3 link, and I think it would probably be less effort than making a wristed wedge one. Idk, my .02 cents.

congrats on the nomination! you gota sweet ride!

Thanks man! :icon_cheers:

I bought a rose bud tip, fiberglass blanket and a temp gun. Gonna get some high nickel content rods and I will be able to weld mine up! I can't remember, are you running high steer? What kinda steering setup are you running?
I swapped my 4" drop pitman arm out for a stock pitman arm. Now it steers like shit. I did it in anticipation for my high steer install. Up till then the only time I had issues was when I had it in 4wd low and I was in a tight spot turning hard left.

No high street. I'm running otk with a stock pitman arm. IMHO, I honestly don't see the huge need for high steer in an application like mine. If I went high street, I wouldn't be able to get my trackbar and draglink in phase.
Are you using the high nickel for the radius arms? I just used a mig with preheat...

I've already bent my tie rod once since I did the sas. I bought the high steer stuff several years ago but didn't use it. $300 invested so I figured I better use it. I just need to get jam nits and have my drag link/tie rod tapped. Then I can install it.
Yes everything I've been told was to use high nickel content rods, pre heat to 400, keep it over 350, when the welding is done reheat to 400 then wrap it and let it cool on it's own.

Yeah, I bent my passenger side TRE shortly after my SAS as well, just didn't see it as that big of a deal.
That may be a better way to do it. I was just too lazy on mine to go find nickel rods, so I preheated to like 400ish and burned it in hot with a MIG. It did pull a lot of heat though, so I wouldn't suggest it with a small machine...
