I have to admit, some of the ideas aren't totally mine. A long time ago I was pondering how to make something similar to this, and then I saw ballistic's version. I refused to fork out $55, not to mention I felt theirs was utter overkill, so I just made one.
I think I am going to keep playing around with them and see if I can get it to look a little more professionally made.

Painted my hood flat black with some rattle can. Doesn't look amazing, but about 10x better than the terribly oxidized green that it was before:

That's funny, I was thinking of the doing the same because of flaking clearcoat.

I'm really glad I was able to finally pull the trigger on it.
Not to mention, if you do it too, our trucks can continue being look-alikes!

I did mine when the paint started peeling up off the primer, couldnt be happier with the way it turned out! It looks good on yours too.makes it look meaner!

The roof is worse than the hood. So I might do the roof and hood.

Same here. Now that the hood turned out well, I'm contemplating doing the roof as well. Ill probably be able to just paint my truck one panel at a time lol.

i was gonna say this is how it starts.. one panel at a time she'll turn into a cut up matte black trail rig. keep it clean my friend!

Y'all are copy cats :headbang:

My dad finally got his forklift up and running, so I flexed it out to see its max and make sure nothing was bottoming/topping out.

First I lifted the passenger front tire:

The front tire only came up 27" before lifting a rear. That was pretty disappointing to me, but it is what it is.

Then I lifted passenger side rear. I got the rear tire 42" off the ground before it looked like the other rear tire was going to try and lift.

When it was flexed all the way, check out the radius arms:

You can see that they are starting to arc pretty heavily from the axle twisting. I'm really glad that I went so long with the radius arms. OR maybe I kind of wish I had done a 3 link instead :dunno: . idk, coulda shoulda woulda...

Also, the leaf springs will reverse pretty good when they are in full compression

Is that horrible for them? I know that it isn't good, but the leaves are oe so its not like I am super worried for them. I just don't want to break a leaf spring in the middle of BFE.

Next up I lifted the drivers side front tire, and got it 36" off the ground, but forgot to grab a pic

Lastly I picked up the drivers side rear tire, and got it 33" off the ground

So why the discrepancy? There was a slight incline, so when I was lifting the passenger side, there was more weight forward. could that have caused such differing numbers? It also seemed that consistently when the passenger rear tire was drooping the flex would be less. The driveshaft IS hitting the gas tank skid when the flex gets pretty extreme, so maybe that is limiting it? I guess Ill check it all again once I get my skidplate to stop interfering.

If you could have gone 3 link (eliminating the ford radius arm setup) I would have. It would almost eliminate axle hop, driveline binding, and suspension binding.

So far I dont have driveline binding or axle hop, just the suspension bind. And it seems to flex good imho, I just don't like seeing the arms bend. Maybe my next axle (assuming no cast wedges) I will just have to bite the bullet and do 3 link :-\

My driveline hit the tank skid too so I put a bII tank in the rear, fit like a glove and was easy to plumb in.plus it moves a little weight to the back where youhave none
