dhkonrad's 93 ford ranger


Personally i would have stood the rear bumper up on its edge and recessed it in like a roll pan. Less protection to the corners but it would look better to me.

That was my original plan, but because it is 6" wide, it would have hung super low. My next thought was turning it up at an angle (probably like a 45*), kind of a compromise between the two, but at 10pm the night before I was thru caring and slapped together what was easiest. I do still like the idea of angling it up so it doesn't stick out so far.

edit: I do kind of like the fact that it makes a nice step when I am getting into the bed of my truck, and it would be perfect to put an LED light bar recessed under the tailgate for a backup light. idk.

Cut your bedsides at an angle like mine. Gives less sheet metal to worry about on departure lol.

I would also look into a set of rim stiffeners. They're cheap (around $145) and WILL save your rims from being bent like that.

You read my mind. I am just torn between rock rings only, or going straight to wiy beadlocks. I don't think I have a huge need for beadlocks, but can't really hurt either. Not to mention I don't want to have to buy new rims later on just because I wimped and went rock rings instead of beadlocks...

Edit: I'm not in a huge rush either. At $50 a rim, they're almost expendable...

That's a lot more cutting and welding than I want to do. I could do that with a piece of 2x4 though. That'd be pretty slick with the tube step. Hmm. Too many possibilities

I did. It has a bit of a vibration from 45-50ish, but then goes away above that. Thanks again for that, I was tearing my hair out trying to find one at the jy's.

Bummer about the vibe at the lower speeds, always was higher up for me. Must be the difference in setups and weight of the vehicles ect. No problem, glad it could get you going

Or it may be due to different gearing.

damn i wanted evans shaft hahaha.

since yours is a crawler, you could just flat line cut it for a great angle. i also remember your bedsides are already cut in the wheelwell yes? good. as my spring compresses the wheel gets pulled back and still eats the fender in that area. something ill have to fix before getting her airborne. did you roll yours too? that might solve my issue a little.

Yeah, I could, but I still wouldn't mind it looking halfway decent. I think my best bet is deciding on what I want to do with my bumper, then cutting them to match. No point in cutting them more than I need to.
Yeah my fenders are cut out quite a bit bigger, then rolled on top of that. If my tires do eat the fender, hopefully my plastic lawn edging will keep them from getting cut up like they did before I cut the fenders out how far they are now.

got kinda bored today so I whipped this baby up. Version1 kinda looks like a 2 year old made it because I made about 40 changes to it by the time I was done. Still not done, but Ill probably start over rather than finish since I have even more big changes I want to make to it.
