Depending on how the pinion is preloaded, could be that easy. If you have a crush sleeve it will have to all come apart to put a new one in, will need a new sleeve too, if it has shims, no problem.

i would make sure to mark were the pinion and nut is before removing to get it back together the same way.

should use a new nut. and the dana 30 should be shimed so you shouldnt need a new crush sleeve.. at least mine was shimmed... but they are outta different applications so who know's

I put a new nut on it when I put 3.73 gears in it. Its the one with shims in it. I don't see it leaking anymore so I don't know.

I tried to get past 50 mph today and my truck struggles to get to there and beyond, its like it hit a brick wall or like I'm towing something. Truck was up to temp. and all but the choke may not be opening all the way. Have to get it to three grand in rpm before shifting into fourth if I'm going for any speed. But having my tires toe in may not be helping either. Wth so much stuff to do, no time to go to the j/y to get a manual choke, so I may have to rig up something.

it could be a combination of choke and alignment. especially if toe is way out of wack.

Have you checked into a manual choke kit from advance auto?

They have one? Got a link or part number?

Ya, its probably both but I have another vehicle I can use for highway driving.

Ok got the manual choke conversion kit and what should take 20min to instal took over an hour due to having to make a custom bracket and used a differnt coke assembly that was better but had slightly different linkage. Runs great get to speed better but getting to 50mph and higher it hust has a heck of a time doing it. My dad was with me durig the tst drive and says the same but he agrees that it may just be because of the aliment is out of wack on it. So far have done over 50 miles and drives like a charm. Need to fill the gas tank up to see what kind of mileage Im getting, may not be the best due to havin g to let it idle and warm up.

Well with the once broken choke and nothing but in town driving, I got 6.4mpg. Need to make it high idle but I want to be able to control it whenever I want so my plans are to hook up the solenoid plunger that was used for the A/C to push on the throttle so that I can have a high idle plus I don't need to let it sit as long to warm up and I don't have to be the high idle by keeping my foot on the gas.

Going to take her up to highway speeds tomorrow and her longest trip with the SAS, let's see if everything goes well.

I know it needs more pics, just haven't gotten to it. I want to get flex and action pics but until I get my front driveshaft made, can't really do any of that.

I will say that it runs so much better now that the timing has been adjusted. My dad set it to where his is. I don't have to sit and let it warm up as long and it has more get up and go. Going on its longest trip yet tomorrow since the SAS to go deer hunting with my dad since his truck needs a new throwout bearing put in it. I also temporarly put my free bed tool box in it for the occassion, it may be made of plastic but free is free. Let's hope it comes home with some payload in the bed after hunting.

Will see running

I wanna :) see when its running on any off road. :)it will look amazing when its complete. :)

I plan on pushing the limits when I get the chance so I can have an excuse to upgrade the axles and stuff on my truck.

Okay, maybe I don't need to give an excuse to people for doing upgrades, just need to give myself one (or more) to do stuff. Like they say, build it, break it, rebuild it stronger.
