I was wondering if you were going to change your avatar.

Well needed a good angle to take the picture but the other vehicles were in the way but I had like a 5 minute window to get the shot when they were gone.

To late in the day to even think about working on the winch thing, leave for work soon but I will have time tomorrow to get it all planned out.

Well I got absolutly nothing done today other then a new u-joint for my front axle is $15 and a pinion seal, yes its leaking very slowing and only when driving, will be $12. Good thing I have that clear diff cover. If I run low, just pop the oil plug off and add as needed, plus keep gear oil in the truck.

I will say shes a pig when cold, cant get her out of third gear due to the choke unless I wine her out. But its only 2 miles to work, so not much time to warm up.

The u-joint for my driveshaft, need a new one. The one that is on it is 27 years old, plus I lost the end caps and needle bearings when I took it off.

Looks better then ttb, but also my set-up rides better and smoother then the ttb I had. Went up my drive way doing 15mph tonight and it has a rough incline at the bottom and I actually didn't feel much of a bump going up it, the rear going up it about busted my teeth out, going to take the overload leaf out next spring.

I'm not looking forward to changing my pinion seal but I am glad I got the SAS done before the cold weather hit, missed it by two weeks.

Don't remind me that I have CV shaft axles, though I'm told they do have there advantages and disadvantages. I'll run them till I break them.

I am getting good comments about my truck from people. They ask when I'm getting larger tires and when I start to explain about having to regear the axles, they look at me like, wait you have to that, thinking there's no consequence to just doing that.

Went to Autozone, got the new parts and the guys that work there went outside and commented on my truck, they really like it. Well went to start the truck, stuttered then died, nothing new wasnt warmed up all the way. Well went to try again, wouldnt start. So popped the hood took the air claner off to see if she was getting fuel and she was. felt the coil to see how hot it was, not hot at all. Well after a few minutes went to try again and she finally started. To me, seemed like vapor lock. I remember seeing the choke fully closed when I went take the air filter off her. Could have also flooded too. Got home popped the hood again and found the screw that adjusts the high idle problem I have and also the one for the choke. But while sitting in the driveway, she got to 190 degrees idling and its safe to say that its not that hot outside. Turned her off, it climbed to 200 degrees and I could hear a slight sound from the radiator cap of it letting off pressure. Top hose was warm and fliud was circulating so I presume the cooling system is fine. I think that having a high idle while not moving in town wasnt helping me out 1300-1400 rom is now been adjusted to 1000rpm. I've gone 20 miles and the gas guage has barrley moved.

Good to hear its running ok for you. You getting more comfortable driving it now?

How long are your jeep coils compressed?

My coils are about 19 inches compressed. Good thing I have a tape measure in the truck plus I'm on break at work.

Ya getting much more comfortable driving the truck, just need to get it up to highway speeds next.

you mentioned that your coil's were 21'' freelength and 19 with weight on them but did you ever find out what coil'sthey are? I severly need to do something about my ride in the front

When I got te coils I got onto a Jeep forum and asked them if they knew anything about them. Next day I found out that they were from rusty's offroad. Heres a link to them...

Heres a link to a vast assorment of Jeep coils from rusty's.....

Just remember that Im not extended cab and running a 2.8 under the hood so Im not weighing them down to bad. The combo of soft springs plus the shocks im using which can be considerd stuff even out perfectly, both belong on a Jeep anyways.

Now I need to look up how to change the pinion seal in the front.

Well I put the driveshaft back in and measured how long I need it, and needs to be 2inches longer. Since its going to be warm the next few days, hopefully get stuff done for the year on her and save up for the stuff for next year.

I have a bunch of extra driveshaft parts. Might have something you can use?

The driveshaft is something I don't want to make on my own due to its a rotating part and I have no way of balancing it.

Is replacing the pinion seal as easy as taking off the yoke, ripping the old seal off and tapping the new one into place on my d30?
