dangerranger1983 build

Getting married next year and the fiancee said to finish up the ranger and figured the v8 swap would be the last big thing done to her for awhile. After the v8 will be moving in with her hopefully find a better job then buy an exploder and so on and so forth.

Sucks to hear that you got rid of the ranger, we never got to race the two.

BTW got a facebook?

Update: Not really much of an update but did sell a spare Duraspark dizzy to a memeber in Texas and just got the check so I will go put that in the bank and get a few parts for the swap, or maybe gas for the truck since the price has dropped and now it is hovering there, $3.26 a gallon, cant call that low but it is what it is.

The engine is almost ready itself. Go to get the water neck on along with the bypass hose (need to buy the hose), put the pilot bearing on along with the flywheel and clutch then slap the transmission on and in therory it should be ready for being put in when I get the old set out. Oh ya I need to nab the vaccum tree off my 2.8 and figure out and accelerator cable bracket for the intake. As for a carb, still have one lined up, just need to buy it and hope like hell it will work, got rebuilt already but never tested.

Need to fab up and engine stand that will allow the trans to be on the engine and whatnot.

Got the 1310 drive shaft flange for the small pattern, 2.5 bolt size.

I figure since I was getting down to the final few weeks, people having the parts and saying they did was getting to close to the day of the swap so ordered it.

I need to find out what my cap sizes are and order the conversion ujoint. I think they are 1 1/16 but not sure so will look up how to measure them and go from there.

Im also debating on a greaseable ujoint or getting a non greaseable. May get the greaseable.

Let me know what size the caps are, I have one that might work for you. If it is, you can have it.

My cap sizes are 1 1/16 in size. I ordered the conversion u joint and autozone had the other normal joint for 8.99.

So you don't need it?

Not right now I dont. You should keep it as a spare, never know when you need it.

Unless it's a conversion joint then I'll take it off your hands.

Yes sir, it is a conversion joint. Got it a few years ago when I did the sad on the other ranger.

Ya I'll take it off your hands, it would be good to have a backup. Lemmie know what you want for it.

Next things will be from illinois sometime next week other then the conversion ujoint from summit. Also I got a $20 reward waiting for me at autozone now so I will be picking up a ujoint and rad hoses with that tomorrow if I have the time.

As for the lower, I cant get a real exact reponce for one so I will probably just end up using a flext hose.

This just came in the mail from Fedex, 1330 to 1310 conversion ujoint. Lets say the box it was packed in wasnt packed and was 10 times the size of the joint. Good thing its a Moog part or it wouldnt have servived the trip. I wonder who was working in the shipping department at Summit that day.

Going Friday to pick up a Holley carb off my cousin for $75. Its the (hope this is true) last major piece that I need.

What I do need to find is a coolant temp sensor for 195 degree t-stat, I think a 185-195 should do the truck but where to get on....may call painless wiring.

Got the bellhousing on the trans then made space for the pallet I got. Going to be taking the engine off its stand in the next few days to put the pilot bearing, flywheel and clutch on it then bolting it all to the trans and all to sit on the pallet and wait till Im ready for them.

But tomorrow I have to fight a bolt that decided that it wanted its head to round on me for the exhaust ball and socket flange soooooo I what did I do....cut the thing as long as I could, thank you angle grinder, and going to weld a nut onto it and hope like hell that will do the job. If not, take the header off the engine, drill it out then weld a nut to the top side so that it can be a one man job putting the pipes on the headers.

And those np435's are heavy SOB's!!!
