dangerranger1983 build

I get paid this friday and it should to off the rest of the parts.

I was thinking about my throttle cable and hourly it will work since I shortened it two years ago at the pedal when I put my 2.8 in due to the 2.3 having a longer cable. Best thing I can think of will be to put the 5.0 in put the carb on then hook the cable up to it then make my custom cable holder that will make it happy and work.

Jay, thanks. So far I haven't heard anything yet othet then my step uncle is instead going to be spending his last days at his sisters house.

Alright doing some measuring I am able to use my current crossmember, well hook it up to the fullsize trans and I may be able to mount it to the current location it is on the frame if the engine will allow it with the mounts I plan to use. The front driveshaft output will be close to the crossmember but with a double cardon joint I should be good.

The new trans in the truck will put me at 36inches from the bellhousing on the current engine setup and also measuring from where the trans mounts to now and wanting to keep it where it is. I will also have plenty of clearance with the gas tank too.

Heres a picture to help out with what I said. You can see the 36 inch mark where the rear of the transfercase will sit, or at least in that area.

Also when under the truck I have a bit of play with the bolt/mount on the frame for the long arm mount Sooooooooo I will have to look at that and maybe replace a bolt.

Just weld the link mounts to the frame. I will be as soon as I get time.

The link mounts are fine, no movement from them, it's the part that pivots that has the bolt that hooks to the link mount. Also need to tighten the jam nut too by the arm pivot mount.

Throttle ball studs for the carb arrived, more to figure out which one is the winner.

Also order ball socket exhaust flanges for the headers so they should be in in a few days.

Other then that waiting till friday for payday to finish up getting the fluids for the engine and then it's time to start the swap soon after I get all my tools gathered up and everything is ready...I'm so nervuos, I worry about the clutch working more then anything.

From what everything is looking like and whatnot, the plans are to start the v8 swap tuesday.

You might need different coil springs with the extra weight of the v8?

Already tested if I will by hanging a few extra hundred pound off the front and it didn't really do much as far as dropping down.

Hell or high water, it has to happen tuesday, I'm running out of time.

It sits up higher than mine so you should be ok with clearances

Fits like a charm, just ordered the flange to be able to bolt her on. Yes there will have to be a bit of cutting and custom work but I will go down that road when the engine is in the truck. Driveshaft will happen at the sametime too.

Got all the fluids and whatnot for the swap. Need to get carb stud bolts but will rob them off the 2.8 if possible or get a spacer for the ones that I have. The swap is still on for Tuesday.

I bet your getting excited, make sure you take tons of pics. I wish i could start mine sometime soon, but i don't have a garage to work in

I'm doing this all in my parent driveway. Still"live" with them but will hopefully be moving in with the fiancee on a few months.
Excited yes, nervous, you bet. I got a time lapse app for my phone so hopefully make a time lapse of me doing this along with pictures.
