dana 44 questions

I doubt that is an early Bronco 44. It looks too wide for that. One way to tell is if it is a low pinion axle, then it more than likely has the weak u-joints.

i doubt it too, but it is about the same width according to the tech library. but i cant tell from the pics if it has the radius arm wedges and all.

That looks like a Jeep axle. I don't see any wedges.

the guy got back to me with some info, he said it is set up for leaf spring Z(spring under) setup. is it still worth getting and is it possible to convert to coils and radius arms?

You can, but you will have to weld on all the brackets for it. If you do that, you would be better off getting a long arm setup for a XJ and using it (it converts the 4 link to a 3 link radius arm setup). You will have to weld on a coil bucket, track bar mount, lower link mount, and upper link mount.

That seems like a lot of work. Too bad you were not closer or I would get my brother to sell you the 44 & 9" that he has.

i dont mind welding, i just want it to be as close to a early bronco style axle once its done, its probably easier to just use leaf springs and welding the perches on the top of the axle and be done with it.

Don't use leaf springs. You already have a coil bucket and coils are really nice for on road/off road use.

I think you can get weld on wedges. I would just find a Bronco 44 instead or get a 44 out of a coiled Jeep.

i have seen a few sas swaps with leafs that flex really well but i dont know how well they drive as a daily driver, mine is a dd even tho i only put about 15 miles a day on it the most lol.

I like coils for the simple fact that 75% of your work on a coil SAS is already done; centering the coil bucket.

kevin, i know exactly where what u need is, a set of box bronco axles still under the truck, both of the rears are missing the center sections, BUT, u can prolly get it for DIRT CHEAP then, and then just get the other parts u need for it from the place, get in touch with me if u want to know more
