daily doubler build

Some pics from today, not the best, but pics none the less.

First I thought I'd display my bro's jeep project. Sittin on 32's, mockin in the big block. Damn jeepers

Relative to my truck's size

It'll be 14" lower at ride height, the air shocks haven't started to compress in those pics.

Trackbar mount cleaned up in single shear

couple weld shots so you guys know its street worthy

cycled the suspension, this is at the coils free length for droop, and damn near its min length for compression. I don't think I'll have that much bump but it'll definitely droop further than the free length of the spring after the weight of the tire is on there.

I plated the mount as well, I guess I thought I'd wait till it was painted before I got a pic. It's primed now. Soooo all that's left is upper shock mounts and brakes, the end is near :headbang:

Looking good man! Great attention to detail, and there's never a problem with over-building anything :-)

especially when the compressed side touches the bump and levers the droop side down from that pivot point.

Well I started by clearancing the engine crossmember. I've got plenty of clearance before I get into the oil pan, the limiting factor now is the track bar hitting the top of the diff. A bent bar should take care of that if its not enough compression.

Modified the f250 towers and installed shocks. I know they're upside down. Forgot to take the size of the shock body into account when making the lower mounts. Little work to those and they'll be installed correctly

Better paint those rear axle shaft flanges so they don't rust. :thefinger:

Looks really good, I'm excited to see it running around again. I think a Farm or Cliffs trip might be in order... :icon_thumby:

Yeah I need to paint em, they'll rust quick. I'd like to find some center caps that fit the larger hole (5 on 5.5 pattern).

I'll get the brakes plumbed this weekend (last thing to do), then trim the fenders so I can at least drive it on the street. Still gotta shorten/install my front d-shaft and see how that works out with the exhaust. The list never ends, but when it gets shorter I'll definitely be ready for a trip :icon_thumby:

I am heading down to Green Valley tomorrow to look at an old winch bumper, might swing by Levi's depending on what time I get done. You gonna stop out there at all?

I'll be working at Artistic Landscapes there in Manito. We were gonna do the job today but got rained out, so we've gotta do it tomorrow. I'm always gettin fawked

Bray you are a true artist!! When you putting it back on the road?

Johnny.....did you ever go look at that bed I told you about.

Thanks Brett! I plan to drive it to school on Monday. Just have to plumb the brakes. Might make an appointment to get an alignment too but I'm sure its close

That looks real nice. Glad to see all your hard work pay off. Very clean install. Makes me want to torch out my ttb.

I got my driveshaft shortened and installed today. I also picked up some lower coil retainers and threw them on as well.

here's the pics at full bump (~3" compression)

IMG_0215.jpg

I was super pumped that the driveshaft/exhaust clearance is not the limiting factor for compression (as of right now), so I decided to go try out my 4wd.
IMG_0219.jpg

IMG_0218.jpg

That's far from fully articulated. I couldn't get the rear tire to lift at all by lifting the body. So I just continued up and over the hill. I never could've done that with my old setup.
IMG_0220.jpg

Next weekend I plan to build/install bumpstops, then all I've gotta do is articulate, trim where necessary, and I'm ready to go wheelin!

edit: yeah I had to get new plates. We finally got around to putting the registration in my name and we couldn't transfer the plates. bummer

does it seem like less bind in 4x with one less u-joint and all that happy crap?

how about handling?

great build!

Thanks!

I'm not exactly sure what binding you're refering to due to the TTB's extra u-joint, but I'm happy with it now. Very predictable suspension, handles nice on the road considering what it is, and steering seems to be maybe even a touch easier.

I want to say awesome build!!!!, I love it, very clean work, i wish i could weld close to as good as you, I may have missed it, but where did you learn to weld, school or just practice? Also do you ever make it inot Missouri to any offroad parks?
